Remember it well, had an afternoon drinking round Blackburn then on the train into Blackpool. Got on the pitch at the end! Loads of Bolton lads out that day

The Coughlin penalty was 1989 - played Blackpool in the northern area final. If memory serves me right, won 1-0 at home and drew 1-1 aet away, went on to play torquay in the final

Aye think it was our first game after Hillsborough.

I think it was pretty much the first game anywhere after Hillsborough.

One of the things that sticks in my mind from that game is that Jeff Chandler missed an absolute sitter to make it 2-1 to use near the end of extra time. Clean through, round the keeper and missed from a very short distance out. Didn't matter in the end. On the pitch afterwards. There's a Roadrunner video of the match and pitch invasion. Tommo being mobbed by fans, one of whom sidles up to him and says in a strong Bolton accent: "Fooookin brilliant Tommo, fuck the Blackpool".

I thought I got to the ground and we were 3-0 down perhaps not. Side stand if I remember correctly? Stevenage road end? Edited by tomski

That Fulham game was the night Miami did 137mph in Smiffs Audi whilst doing a line of bing off a England Anthems CD case on the way home :-)

Wasn't Barry Knight the fourth official that night? I was stood with the Fulham fans on the open terrace behind the goal, so i couldn't tell but i seem to remember him getting dogs abuse.

We were so poor i thought we were going down. We lost all of our final three games that season after we'd thrashed Ipswich and ended up relying on Utd beating them at Portman Road.

That mid-week away game at theirs was bloody difficult find a pub open that would let BWFC in and there were only 2 of us. Mind it was very early afternoon - 2PM.

Most pubs told not to open.

Found one eventually up by the Station.

IIRC it was the Tuesday night after Hillsborough the previous Sat?

Dunno if this has been posted before. Full programme of "Kick Off" from New Year's Eve 1978. Main match is the famous West Brom 5-3 against the DMBs at Old Trafford.

However after about 40 mins and 40 seconds Bolton feature in a review of the year. This comes in the form of footage of the end of match celebrations following the clinching of promotion in front of 34000 at Burnden against Fulham. Class stuff.
