Ani Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Right on the back of a 93rd minute winner against the bottom team and beating a very poor everton i think europe is on the cards...... I know arsenal winning the league cup is good for us.......assuming we do not win the FA cup if two top teams reach final how far down the league can qualification go ?
ron Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 (edited) Found this "In England, apart from the top four league places that lead to Champions League qualification, there are three spots for Europa League qualification: fifth place in the league; the winners of the Carling Cup and the winners of the FA Cup. Like with the UEFA Cup, there will be a total of three places in the first of four qualifying rounds of the Europa League for Fair Play winners." And following a change of the rules, should a team that has already qualified for Europe win the FA Cup this season, seventh place in the league will also lead to a Europa League spot." So looks like 7th at best, but with most of our remaining away fixtures against bottom half, we're in with a fighting chance. http://www.statto.com/football/teams/bolton-wanderers/2010-2011 Edited February 14, 2011 by ron
Happy Wanderer Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Come on ani don't give it the kiss of death. We don't talk about 'it' until the last game.

What am I talking about we are going to win the cup so we qualify for Europe anyway

We have a couple of tricky homes too - city and arsenal. I think if we hold on for top 10 thats an excellent campaign
Traf Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Europe would be a superb ding dong do, but anywhere in the top 12 is progress.
SpiritofBurnden Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 We have a couple of tricky homes too - city and arsenal. It was mentioned on MOTD2 last night that only Utd and Spurs have lost fewer games at home this season than us.
RUREADY2ROLL Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 I still think we will finish above you ! Nah we aren't going down with you.
HomerJay Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 (edited) It was mentioned on MOTD2 last night that only Utd and Spurs have lost fewer games at home this season than us. but how many have we drawn. ive not really considered our home form as that good to be honest. hmmm 7th http://stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/PR/home.html and 15th for away games http://stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/PR/away.html Edited February 18, 2011 by HomerJay

Snow_white Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 I know its swings and roundabouts but if the murderers hadn't been given that offside Joe Cole goal and Zat Knight had buried that easy chance at Sunderland we would be looking confortable in 6th place now. MickyD Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 No, Pablo, read it again as in go to the top of the page and read what it says. Evertonways or Wanderersways?
Tyldesley White Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 We're going to need to go away and win at the likes of Newcastle, Birmingham, Blackburn and Blackpool to stand a chance of finishing 6/7th, i can see us winning 2 of them at most
tylswhite Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 I think YOU need too !! You have lost more league games than Everton, this season ! Theres no hope for some folk.
Pablo Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 Theres no hope for some folk. Post of the year pal, post of the year !
tylswhite Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 We're going to need to go away and win at the likes of Newcastle, Birmingham, Blackburn and Blackpool to stand a chance of finishing 6/7th, i can see us winning 2 of them at most 2 wins and 2 draws would put us on course. Its home to arsenal and city that will be big, we will need to win one of those two i reckon.

Zico Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 It was mentioned on MOTD2 last night that only Utd and Spurs have lost fewer games at home this season than us. fwiw as it stands we've also not lost to anyone in the bottom half either
MickyD Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 fwiw as it stands we've also not lost to anyone in the bottom half either We tried fucking hard against Blackpool and Brum though!
SatanGreavsie Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 Who was the mon with the Euro qualification site that let you work out who you might get?? Might just nip on there and then onto th'Easyjet just in case Seriously though, the realistic truth is that the PL is so much of a muchness that we have as a good a chance as anyone else of getting 7th at the mo. Still, when KD barges the Filth keeper over the line for the winner at Wembley we'll have earned it - Skopje, we're coming back
Traf Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 Bert Kassie's your man, but he continuously got it hopelessly wrong. http://www.xs4all.nl/~kassiesa/bert/uefa/
SatanGreavsie Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Bert Kassie's your man, but he continuously got it hopelessly wrong. Aye, but that was half the fun Hours of in depth research into how to get to Tromso...I miss it
