The Conductor Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 What we have done is book a cheap single from Birmingham to Euston to arrive there for 1.37. Can still use the voucher by getting the 10.20 Crewe to Birmingham on London Midland. On the way back it's the 6.50 London Midland train to Crewe to arrive there at 10.15.
MickyD Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 Just blag it on the Virgin. The ticket collecters aren't usually that arsed. Tell them you caught the train at Runcorn and the Station Manager there had advised you that because of signalling works you couldn't travel on your preferred route but must change to Virgin. he also said that there may be an additional charge but only if the ticket man on the Virgin is a snotty twat and is on his period.

Mmmm. Nothing they like better than a good row, culminating in someone having to pay an excess fare for not being on the right train with the right reservation. Oh, actually, what they DO like better is watching the train door slam in your face and you standing there, after running as fast as you can up & down several flights of stairs to catch the bastard thing, waiting for another minute before the bugger leaves the station. Then they like watching you wait an hour for the next train.

How much is the single from B/ham to Euston & what time is it to connect with the train from Crewe?
The Conductor Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 How much is the single from B/ham to Euston & what time is it to connect with the train from Crewe? If you on thetrainline.com it will give you the cheapest prices for the singles. As it stands the 11.50am one at ?15 is the cheapest. The train from Crewe gets in at 11.17 giving you just over the half an hour to connect. So all in all ?25 for trains isn't a bad deal.

Boby Brno Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 I've spoken to someone at Londonmidland and they have given me a route as follows. Leave Crewe at 10.20 to B/ham, B/ham to Northampton, Northampton to Euston arriving at 14.37. Very tight even without delays. If you see 3 people coming in after the 3pm start, show a little patience!

MickyD Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Lad and 4 of his mates are making the numbers up. I know I used to go to a lot of aways when I was his age (15) but I was a whole lot more worldly wise than he is. Mum's a bit worried but he's learned the art of asking me for permission before he asks her. Make that my lad and two mates. Three out of the original 5 bailed when their parents decided 15 was too young to head off to that there London for the day and they've managed to shift the one extra train ticket. Some kids have parents with more cash than sense. Gave one of the lads ?35 for the train and then bottled it! There'll be some relentless piss taking at school a week on monday!
Whites man Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Draw tomorrow, beat them back at the Reebok, let's see what May brings.
