MickyD Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 I see the good folk at BWFC have cut prices for this game in an effort to boost numbers. I'm all for that, don't get me wrong, I would, however, love to see them offer a similar deal to existing S/T holders where, for a few extra quid they could get a meal and a comfy seat as an upgrade. I can definately see the point about values of S/Ts reducing each time one of the "make-it-cheap; fill-it-up" deals comes around.
Guest Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 ST holders will get priority for the Cup Final That'll do me!

MickyD Posted March 10, 2011 Author Posted March 10, 2011 Now we're talking. As long as they don't try and make of eat a rollover hotdog. I'd puke!
MickyD Posted March 11, 2011 Author Posted March 11, 2011 ?15 for adults, ?10 for concessions and ?5 for under 18s. Groups bigger than 10 ?10 adults ?5 consessions.
SatanGreavsie Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 I can definately see the point about values of S/Ts reducing each time one of the "make-it-cheap; fill-it-up" deals comes around. Well the question is, why have those deals? There can only be two reasons (and it could be both): (i) As the cost of getting extra people in is ziltch it follows they are pure profit. (ii) More people makes for more atmosphere and thus a higher league position at ?750k a place in prize money. Now (i) is a pittance compared to (ii). Getting an extra 5k in at ?10 a pop brings in ?50k (plus some extras due to ale etc) Finishing 7th instead of 12th brings in just shy of ?4M. Thus it follows that the main motivation is atmosphere. If that's the case then get the ST holders involved by linking renewal prices to final league standing. Tenner off each renewed ticket per place above 12th for example.
MickyD Posted March 11, 2011 Author Posted March 11, 2011 I certainly think renewals should be linked to length of service. 5% off per unbroken year of S/T patronage. Up to a max of 10 years.
jules_darby Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 I think some folk moan too much Get a Season Ticket Don't Your choice
mickbrown Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 ST holders will get priority for the Cup Final That'll do me! Unless the club in their wisdom give each season ticket holder 3 tickets each. Now, what club would be daft enough to do that I wonder?

It is a fair balance and the club look at it and take it very serious indeed. How many league games have they reduced the prices for this season? Compare that to the discount you already get on your season ticket. As already pointed out having a ST gives you priority over others and you get a discount or allowed to pread your payments over the season.
Carlos Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 I think some folk moan too much Get a Season Ticket Don't Your choice Bang on. I'm in it for the greater good of Bolton Wanderers, the town and it's people, not to save myself a couple of quid or for a reason to have a good moan.
Boothy Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Is the prime reason for buying is that you intend to go to all the games? Surely the saving is the bonus. Is the saving made on a S/T still not greater than if you paid every game individually, inclusive of the saving from time to time? I wouldn't know. Don't forget your TeamCard points
MickyD Posted March 11, 2011 Author Posted March 11, 2011 http://www.wanderersways.com/forum/topic/50877-portsmouth-h-20th-dec/ The club used to do these games and give the S/T holders a fiver off tickets if they brought a guest along. Is debate frowned upon these days? Can a poster not post a comment without others having a dig that they are moaning for the sake of it?

Don't forget your TeamCard points My point is that by buying a S/T the club tell me that each game, averaged over the season, is ?xx.xx. What I'm saying is that each time the club make a game less than my average price then the average price given increases. It amazes me that some folk can't see that or would rather just have a go.

And that's still the case At the time you bought it, you thought it was worth the money you paid for it The club have offered dicounts to non-ST holders for a few years now; it should come as no shock - therefore I think it's an invalid moan And yeah I think it's a whinge at the club for the sake of it
Casino Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 it boils down to whether the club want to sell season tickets if they do then it wouldn't be good if a significant number of those who buy them agree with mr d my tickets are excellent value so i'm not bothered what they do

Don't forget your TeamCard points i buy a season ticket for me and junior despite the fact i know i will miss a few games, for which i give the ticket to someone else (free) i get the ticket cos when i go i want sit with my dad and the people i used to go to the match at burnden with. i do not care if the club then makes the odd game cheap to get in as there is a better atmosphere and i enjoy it more when ground is fuller. get the ticket on interest free card from barclays and pay about ?50 per month for it, great value.

I'm not having ago, I'm just establishing whether it is cheaper overall to get a season ticket or to buy individually. There can't be that much shift in price for the 3 or 4 games per year that are discounted? I don't buy a S/T as I can't make all the games due to other commitments but I have probably done 50% of games this season home and away so a drop is always welcome and they do induce a fluctuation in crowd.
Carlos Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Maybe they should refund you the difference, but in doing so you have to jump through the same hoops as those buying tickets I.e. via Tickermaster, at the ground or speaking to some grumpy fucker in the ticket office. Your seat for that game should also be one that you don't choose i.e. in the corner or next to some fat Ron Manager type and finally you relinquish the opportunity to buy match tickets before the general public, preferably in the week cup final tickets go on sale. Simples!
