tylswhite Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Marc Iles being wise after the event on Twitter as ever. Claims our interest was 'last summer'. That guy is an utter cunt. Thats not what he was saying a few weeks back. He just spouts bullshit every day.
SnoopJohnnyJohn Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 (edited) Marc Iles being wise after the event on Twitter as ever. Claims our interest was 'last summer'. Our interest WAS last summer... we've been tracking him for a year. Daily Mail from 16/08/10 Edited June 29, 2011 by SnoopJohnnyJohn
Didledee Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 It was the same with J.Saviola, each TW for like 2-3 seasons, Bolton after Saviola, Bolton close on Saviola, blah blah blah.
Guest Blixa Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Our interest WAS last summer... we've been tracking him for a year. Daily Mail from 16/08/10 Last summer as opposed to this summer. Not a year-long chase.
Zico Posted June 29, 2011 Author Posted June 29, 2011 Last summer as opposed to this summer. Not a year-long chase. so is the long and short of all this that at no point this summer have we been after this lad and at no point will we be?
tylswhite Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 so is the long and short of all this that at no point this summer have we been after this lad and at no point will we be? Fuck knows but that knobhead Iles from the Bolton news saying he thought it was last season after its dragged on for weeks just shows what type of a twat he is.
SnoopJohnnyJohn Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Last summer as opposed to this summer. Not a year-long chase. My point was that we were after him last summer, so basically if we're STILL after him then it's been a year-long tracking. There's a good chance that the media have seen how well he's done in the U-21s and dug up an old story about us and re-hashed it.
TOMolloy Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 According to Nixon, we're close to wrapping up a loan deal for Rodrigo with view to a ?4m permanent move. I think Rodrigo is a decent prospect who was over-hyped because he came from Real Madrid's youth system which made people overlook his flaws. Put it this way. Hypothetically, if Ward had the same chances here as Rodrigo last season, do you think he would have managed any less than 1 goal and 1 assist (same as Rodrigo)? We did, after all, get Rodrigo on loan after scoring a few goals in the (Spanish) third tier. Not all too different to what Ward's been doing for the last 2 seasons.

I'd much rather have him on loan next season than shelling out for him now. Gives us a chance to have a better look at him, i'm still undecided myself

Gives us a chance to have a better look at him, i'm still undecided myself If we can, I'd certainly do that Only issue is, like Al Habsi and Wigan, if he played well and we did want him the price could go up / another club come in / them not want to sell him... I'd therefore say loan with caveat of a price being fixed on paper now for next season....
TOMolloy Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 (edited) yes Explain? Ward has a better scoring record at the equivalent level than Rodrigo did. Both are striker/wingers. They're the same age. Not too different in my eyes, we've just seen more of Rodrigo. And you can't use International youth records because Tope has a better international record than Rodrigo. Theboybell Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 After Jo from City on loan apparently Oh God no!

TOMolloy Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Are you Ward's Dad? Nope, just don't see the massive difference between them in their actual records apart from Rodrigo being from Madrid's academy.
Garrp Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Nope, just don't see the massive difference between them in their actual records apart from Rodrigo being from Madrid's academy. which is why you shouldn't look at wikipedia and the like to form an opinion on a player. for the record I like both, but judging them by what they have done in their youth career is the act of a plantpot.

Didn't judge them on their youth career, judged Rodrigo on his record for Real Madrid Castilla (who play in the Spanish 3rd Division) And judged Ward on his record for Swindon and Huddersfield (who play in the English 3rd Divison) Was jut covering the youth bit incase somebody brought it up as a counter-argument.
frank_spencer Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 After Jo from City on loan apparently Jo holds the honour of being player 70 added to my geek spreadsheet.

TOMolloy Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 It was just a hypothetical question, based on the opinion some people have formed that Ward won't cut it yet they'd welcome Rodrigo back with open arms.
