Guest bwfcdan Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Looked a class above in midfield tonight. Future captain.
Danny G Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 I have a hunch that Darren Pratley will be the one that impresses the most.
Arrested development Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Played quite well when he came on today. Can't really tell much from pre season but he likes to come deep to collect the ball, which I think we need, especially with holden injured.
Traf Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Central midfield looks strong now with the two new recruits.
birch-chorley Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 chuffed with this, think he and pratley will be the first choice centre mid until Holden comes back. Like the fact that he can cover a number of positions as well, just what a club with our budget needs. 2 decent strikers required now (1 perm + 1 loan) and then we are looking good. COYWM
HomerJay Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Funny how villa fans are touting muamba as his replacement I don't actually think coyle will have a 1st xi in his mind. It will be down to picking the best players on the day.
superkev Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Reo Coker and Mark Davies to start for me. Davies can really penetrate when he runs at pace with the ball
liamBWFC Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 I'd have MD, Reo Coker and Pratley all in midfield in a 4-5-1 formation with CYL and Eagles playing out wide, with also either Pratley or MD playing just off the lone striker.
tylswhite Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 My starting centre midfield would be 2 from Pratley, Muamba & Reo Coker. With two from any of them three we would have good presence in midfield and we need that if we are going to continue with 2 in the middle. Obviously Holden is back in when fit and i would save Mark Davies to bring on as he is pretty lightweight and injury prone.

tylswhite Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Impact sub? Sounds about reet to me. He could make hay late in the game when theres a few tired legs about. He needs to be encouraged to shoot more too after hes been on one of his mazy runs, far too often he passes for no good reason imo.
superkev Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 I certainly wouldn't be starting with Muamba. Think we will see less of him this season

If he can stay injury free I don't think it will be long before he starts to gain confidence and rip teams apart by his direct running! Whilst I'm in Mystic Meg mode... being a huge fan of the footballing brain of Ivan Klasnic... I'd be happy for him to start alone up top now he's looking fitter... and I think MD/Eagles could be just the men to be the extra floating midfielder COYW

He wont last long if he plays in a central midfield two imo. He will either get crocked because he has to try and do too much or he will just get overrun and leave to much pressure on his central midfield partner.
Casino Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 possibly why the black dwarf didn't suggest using him in a 2
Eddie Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 IMO Mark Davies would work well next to Reo-Coker. 2 players that are comfortable on the ball, 2 players with the energy to cover the pitch and I recon they'd compliment each other well with Reo-Coker defensively and Davies's attacking qualities. Just because M.Davies isn't 6ft 2 and 14 stone it doesn't mean he couldn't hack it in centre mid. Xavi and Iniesta have blown the whole height theory out of the water (and no I'm not saying he is as good as those two).
Alf Hartigan Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 possibly why the black dwarf didn't suggest using him in a 2 the black dwarf talks sense (most of the time anyway)
