Anyone still thinking of train trip down there, just done a journey split on the trainline going through Nottingham, works out at £41.70 - example times could be:-

 

Manc 7.38, into Notts at 9.30

Notts 10.34 in Peterborough 11.39

 

Leave Peterborough 17.27 into Notts 18.36

Notts on 18.45 or 19.40 back into Manc 20.40 or 21.32
