bolty58 Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 This will surprise some but I am not a Murray fan. Having said that, delighted he routed that horrible bastard. An embarrassment to tennis, Greece, Malaysia and Australia. Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 Malc, he played well first set. Lost it and gave up. Don't know if you've seen his interview since but he admitted his lack of interest. His efforts in the second and third sets we're pathetic. Even the Aussies hate him. Should take some of his prize money and refund those who turned out. Quote
Alf Hartigan Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 Same pattern developing here, although I wouldn't accuse Tsonga of giving up. That first set was brutal. Quote

Tonge moor green jacket Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 Tsonga was wilting in the last set. Federer is looking in fine fettle now though. Quote
bgoefc Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 Watched some tennis since Wednesday and the women final this afternoon. The Williams brothers are simply too "strong" for the girls. Quote

stevieb Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 ABM however, just stuck a Murray /france double on (lifting t'cup). Come on you miserable Scottish posh cunt! Quote
superjohnmcginlay Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 Easy this for Murray, Great player. My opinion on him as changed for the better Quote
Zico Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 One of them obviously wasn't They did win the doubles later on in the day Not sure if it was the women's or mixed though Quote
MalcolmW Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 They did win the doubles later on in the day Not sure if it was the women's or mixed though The mixed has just been won today by Heather Watson and a Finnish guy. First time since 1969 that Britons have won 2 titles, but then Ann Jones was in both. First time since 1938 that two separate Britons have won titles. Quote
Spider Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 I assume tennis is a British invention since we seem to be mainly shit at it? Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 Top performance from Murray today. Played like and had the aura of a champion. Quote
gonzo Posted July 10, 2016 Author Posted July 10, 2016 I assume tennis is a British invention since we seem to be mainly shit at it? Think we invented the one where they bash a rolled up pair of socks on an old tin roof Quote
MancWanderer Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 Murray was awesome. Deserved it That said the wheelchair tennis was far better. I really didn't care who won. I just sat here fucking amazed at the sporting prowess and the effort that they put in, Somebody please take our shithouse players to watch one of these matches in the future Quote
jturner Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 It was a horrific Wimbledon for the Williams and Murray haters. I didn't watch any of it after Djokovic lost. The only consolation was Andy putting his foot in it during his victory speech when he invited the Centre Court crowd to jeer the Prime Minister which they duly did Quote

Then again, all 8 played the singles, so three wins were needed. That said, they are a good advertisement for the opportunities which now exist. Quote

So if only 4 pairs entered it was worthwhile just turning up! Quote
Exiled Girl Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Laura Robson just got through qualifiers to the US Open main draw. Very good to see her getting her act together after the wrist surgery & using up her protected ranking. Quote

Exiled Girl Posted August 27, 2016 Posted August 27, 2016 Pain in the backside when you play someone you're used to playing in an external competition. Quote
