There's four sets of seats stored and they are rotated every season FACT

Pretty sure that the Hulton Estate just off the A6 was also mooted as a possible location for the ground.

 

Also recall that Wigan rugby were considered at one time to share the ground but then Whelan had his own designs and built the JJB/DW

Why were all of the hospitality areas not developed? The North/East corner is a disgrace, still looks like a church hall meeting after 16 years.

they had a little viewing platform in one corner with about 3 rows of seats you could watch and get a feel for the seats went once with a mate

I used to have a deal with my dad while it was being built. On the weekends that Leigh rugby were away, I'd go walking up Rivvy Pike or wherever with him as long as we could stop in at the "visitors centre" on the way back. I've still got one of the artists impressions on my wall (in fact the one earlier in this thread with the balloons etc), signed by Lofty the Lion, no less.

 

Not sure how much of a part the council played in the location as having an automatic potential customer base of thousands every other week was undoubtedly a huge factor in persuading companies to sign up to the retail park, and I'm not sure such a development would have been possible on the other sites mentioned, but maybe that's one for the Bolton town centre thread?

a few posters saying the Reebok is best situated where it is now. right,given a straight choice,would you have it there or on manny rd if that was possible. i know where i'd have it.

 

the plod were definitely happier when we relocated,it made their job so easy. Burnden was a fearsome ground for away fans,not many relished it.

 

personally,i'd have knocked down hayward school,with lots of the pupils in it and built the new stadium on the ''levels''

I'd prefer the stadium where Burnden was but i understand the reasons why the stadium is where it is

Location wouldn't change the atmosphere.

 

It'd be easier for some folk to get to Manny Road (even with the plague of mini roundabouts in Great Lever), it'd be a pain in the arse for others.

 

Neither would be Burnden, so who cares?
