I don't like Bury but I don't want them to go out of business they have suffered because of Man U and City, this year its Bury, in 10 years it could be us.

I would have loved to see the cup game between us and them in the early 60s that drew massive crowds, the size of united and city is a massive problem for all clubs in this region including us, I was talking to a long time Bolton season ticket holder recently he did not renew last season and on occasions this season he's been watching City and I bet he ain't the only Bolton fan.

I couldn't think of anything worse than watching citeh or dmbs. I feel physically sick when we play at old Trafford.

Fuck em.

They shook their buckets at the Reebok, we put in our hard earned, and they still sang about Lofthouse and Muamba.

Fuck em.

(Have I already said that?)

FC United come over all principled when the Bury merger is mentioned, it would go against their ethics to replace another team apparently. Seems fine for them to cheer on the actual United still though? Speaking of Bury and Rochdale reminds me of a drunk we met at Rochdale away few years back. He told us that the police had graded the worse 5 derby matches in Britain for trouble as Manchester, Glasgow, Millwall West Ham, South Wales coast and... Rochdale v Bury. I'll have a pint of whatever he was drinking

I went to Rochdale v Bury in the JPT this season and to be fair there were bloody loads of coppers there, even more so when it went to penalties. Some right scruffy cunts in the Bury end, was a good night's entertainment. Buggers ran out of pies though.

Plus dropping down a league, no Sheffield clubs, loads of clubs like Exeter, Plymouth and Torquay who will bring fuck all. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

Bolton didn't play Bury from about 1968 to 1985. My memories of the Wanderers start in the mid 70s. Those first nine or ten years of my memory as a Bolton fan are of plenty looking on Bury as their second team, certainly with no hate in the equation. It therefore came as a bit of a jarring shock in the mid to late 80s when they started playing us and beating and making clear they hate us. Does anybody else remember attitudes being different until the mid 80s or is my memory playing tricks?

I don't remember them existing much football-wise before the '80s. Just remember some of my dad's mates going watching them when we were away, as a few older fans did back then rather than travelling away.

Don't hate them, don't even think about them. Never think of them as a local rival, despite the distance. If they went under, wouldn't notice or care much. Just worry than the BEN would have even less to write about in the back pages and might start doing even more opinion pieces and looking back to fill the gaps.

Been waiting to dance and spit on their grave for 20 years now since my Mavis was treated badly by 8-10 Bury "lads" whilst on the bus when they got on in Ramsbottom.
