exiledwhite2 Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 "From Bolton, Lancashire, England" Come on Amir Most exciting boxer we have at the moment. Takes on all comers usually in their backyard He will be getting my support tonight He's a game, brave lad and he has dedicated himself to the sport, admirable given how tough it is and how he could just toss it off and live very comfortably if he chose, and could've done so a long time ago. Like hagler said (ish) it gets hard to get up in the middle of the night and go running, when you are sleeping in silk sheets. As I said above, he's not durable enough and just not quite good enough at the elite level but very very few British fighters are. Only Lewis in my lifetime i reckon, and it's debatable whether he was British, in fairness. His fight education was not in Britain. Khan is a genuine world class fighter, Bolton born and bred. Hope he pulls it off tonight and would love him to get a mega fight with Floyd or pacquiao. Quote
SalfordOriginal Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 what times he in the ring 5 ish? 2am ish. Would like to watch it. But can see the record option being used. Programme only comes on at 2am so would say Bury boy is closer to the fight time Quote
Biggish Dave Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 Vegas is 8 hours behind us, they usually aim for ring walk walk to be about 8pm over there so there is no way it will be before 4am our time Quote
Underpants Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 Khans speed is his greatest asset. But its his biggest enemy too. Always very susceptible to some chin music when he's throwing 3 or 4 on the trot. Quote
Garrp Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 Fucking amazing Andy Lee Absolutely fucking buzzing! Quote
deane koontz Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 Well done Amir. Needs to fight at a more godly hour though,. Quote
kent_white Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 Top man - Along with Sir Nat probably the finest sportsman our town has ever produced. Even better than Jason Wilcox! Quote
royal white Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 "From Bolton, Lancashire, England" Come on Amir Most exciting boxer we have at the moment. Takes on all comers usually in their backyard He will be getting my support tonight Shouldn't it be Bolton, Manchester, England? Quote
jules_darby Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 Congratulations Amir Keep winning lad and see what excuses folk will come out with for not supporting him... Quote
Traf Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 Top work from our Amir. I love Amir Khan, but then again I'm not an ignorant racist prick who despises everything about his home town. Quote
Pablo Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 Should be a statue of this bloke in bolton, by the time his career is over. Brilliant fighter, best thing to ever come out of this town. Everyone should be proud Quote
L/H White Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 Put on a clinic last night Good to see Hunter keep him grounded to stop him going in all guns blazing. Great performance Quote
Cheese Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 Sat behind Amir in Business Class on a flight to Chicago O'Hare about 10 years ago. Had a brief chat with him while we were waiting for our luggage. Nice lad. He's also a fucking good boxer, and if he ever gets the Mayweather fight, it'll be a blinder. Like him even more for the professional way he goes about his business. None of this pantomime bullshit. Quote
Northender Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 That Andy Lee finish was amazing. Enjoyed it in Amir fight when they kept showing the sports bar in St Louis, all sat there looking miserable as our Amir gave their hero a beating. Quote
SalfordOriginal Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 Keep Boxing like that and he would cause Mayweather real problems. He seems to be much broader than most at that weight Quote
Garrp Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 Keep Boxing like that and he would cause Mayweather real problems. He seems to be much broader than most at that weight apparently Khan walks around heavier than Golovkin when not fighting. absolutely bonkers he must have been killing himself to make 140 Quote
Traf Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 apparently Khan walks around heavier than Golovkin when not fighting. It'll be those daft shoes he wears. Quote
exiledwhite2 Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 apparently Khan walks around heavier than Golovkin when not fighting. absolutely bonkers he must have been killing himself to make 140 Considering he was at 135 not long ago, moreso. He's not a big welter though. Then again not many are, right now. Not like your tony margarito or Paul Williams, 6 ft plus, big guys. Cracking performance last night. He's got to be up at the front of the queue for Floyd / manny now but ironically they'll likely fight each other, rematch, and quit. Quote
