Top finish from Odelusi. Hall looks very impressive. Moritz looks to have a bit of class about him. Ream is still dire. Parking was easy enough.

Just got back. Lets not get carried away. We wernt top draw. Another of them games where we controlled the match out of possession I guess. Shrewsbury played some very nice football and caused us plenty of problems.

Our retention of the ball was atrocious. Relied heavily on counter attack, which is fine, but not at the expense of just giving the opposition the ball away constantly. Long hoof to tierney didn't work once. Ream was even weaker than normal.

 

Positives. Ngog was brilliant. Assist for 3rd goal was top notch. Hall looked good when we got the ball to him. Odelusi's 2nd was a great finish. Medo played well when on the ball.

 

Biggest negative. Some twat traveling 2 hours each way on a Tuesday night to spend the whole night hurling abuse at 'the family stand' (away fans) trying to get attention constantly whilst failing to start any chants and doing shite party tricks at the front. Christ almighty we attract em.

Not long since back. Shrewsbury looked quite handy first half but don't think we were in any danger once we got the third, which was an absolute belter by the way. Continued my habit from last season and missed our second goal, wasn't even on a beer run!

Oh tell me about it - and now it seems some of our biggest bellends now come complete with that fucking awful away kit, so they stand out even more.

 

Strangely quaint little ground I thought, glad to have it ticked off my list.

 

Shrewsbury had us on the rack for a good while in that first half, chance after chance, including a couple that Lonegran saved really well. We looked pretty unstable at the back but decent going forward, although I got sick of seeing us play that same long ball from the keeper out to Odelusi to try and win in the air it was old news after the second time we tried it - but carried on doing it all game.

 

Good finish for the third goal but next time you do that, Odelusi, jump over the ad boards into the crowd to celebrate rather than legging it away!!

Just home....for the first half hour or so we struggled defensively,  Ream still looks physically weak for a centre half, but we always looked dangerous on the attack. The third goal killed them off, a nice finish & a lovely through ball ( from N'Gog i think.)

The one occasion I've seen Odelusi play, he didn't look like a footballer at all to me.  Clearly strength and pace to burn but seemed to lack any kind of touch or composure.

 

Mind you, that same evening I thought Jack Sampson looked like a real prospect.

If you saw him last night for Morecambe, you'll know how VERY true that statement is.

Seen plenty of Odelusi and Sampson over the last couple of years and the biggest difference between the two is the attitude. At 16 Sampson had an agent and was being spoken of in the papers in glowing terms - Odelusi got his head down and is a humble lad and has now got what he deserves whereas Sampson has fallen by the wayside.

Fair enough result with our scratch team against Shrewsbury who at least tried to play football. I thought Lonergen's save (tip over) at 1-1 was crucial. As for Medo he's OK when he has plenty of space but he does not like a tackle. He must have stopped dead 4 or 5 times last night when one of theirs gave him a fair clatter and so took the ball off him. Moritz at least looks like he can tackle and run forward with the ball, not Per Frandsen but good enough for our level. Mears ending up on the right wing at least got him out of the back 4 where he does most harm.

When i've seen him tackling seems his forte.

You must be talking about a different Medo than the one I've seen who loves getting stuck in

Credit to Mears last night, not sure they got a cross in his side and he made the second goal beating his man before laying off to Hall.

 

Ream had a better second half but players just seem to move him out of the way so easily.

 

Odelusi giving Dougie a huge hug after his second was a great sight too.

 

Decent enough ground but the Reebok is in a metropolis by comparison.

I was not there so can't comment on specifics.  But compare it to this time last year it seems to be chalk and cheese.  A large number of changes still managed to pull out a result and from what Ian Dowie was saying on sky although Shrewsbury caused a few problems we were relatively comfortable for most of the game.

 

It was good to see the "fringe" players get a game.  It seems that Ream was shaky at the start but settled down. The wingers did well with them both scoring.  Craig Davies had a number of chances but couldn't convert.  Perhaps needs that one goal to get going.
