Things You Remember From Games That Nobody Else Seems To

I still to this day swear that Phil Neal spat full in the face of one of our opponents on his debut for us right in front of the paddock. Am I making this up or what?

I'd add 'kill cricket' to the list, but a few obviously do remember that one. Not least er... Kill cricket.

Anybody remember John O'Kanes goal from the halfway line at the Priestfield in the 2000-01 season? I can still hear the Gillingham fans singing "2 nil and you facked it ap" as we left the ground.

Yeah and singing who let the dogs out to their cheerleaders breaking them 1 by 1 ha.

Frandsen swerving a 35 yard screamer into the top corner again Birmingham in our second season at the Reebok.

Gardner managing to kick the ball out of the Reebok when holding on to a narrow lead. It seems inconceivable to me now but I'm sure it happened.

Remember think it was Graham Paddon coming on as sub for Norwich at Burnden late 70s in think some white or yellow boots and people in stitches laughing as most players still wore black and had not seen the likes before. Also does anyone remember the referee Roger Kirkpatrick he was quality.

I remember that. It was the first pair of not-black footy boots we'd seen.

Woo-hoo!! (said in a proper effeminate way rather than a punch-the-air celebratory way.)

Playing Fulham at Burnden with Best and Marsh ,pre match a lad ran on and tried to give Marsh a handbag

The snowballs at Oldham where we forced a policewoman onto the pitch twice to get away from the pelting she was getting

I remeber at Plymouth [around1976/77] we went on  Catteralls coach from the Wheatsheaf at midnight, plenty mither around the bus station, in the ground we shared the open away end, as we were outnumbered a lad from L/H ran on the pitch and grabbed the corner flag and weighed in with it twatting anything in green [we drew 1-1 that day with Paul Mariner scoring both goals]

I remember Willie Morgan catching the ball before it went for throw, stepping behind the touch line to take the throw and having a free kick given against him for handball.

I remember being at Oldham when referee Ken Walmesley sent Willie Morgan off, we were all chanting "you're a bastard etc etc, even his son who was with us [as they were my neighbours]

I'll add one of the most bizarre reading decisions at Barnsley away that nobody seems to remember

We scored a goal; they protested and I can't remember exactly but he change his mind about 3 times and ended up giving US a free kick outside their box

I remember that as in the post match interview dave bassett said something like the ref is prob in his dressing room now not knowing whether to have a shave, shower or a shit

Thinking about previous New Years Day games, I remember playing Darlington (I think) when their keeper, Mark Prudhoe, was throwing up at the side of the nets at the Lever End. Always amused me

Remember as a kid Brum bringing the world with them to Burnden, that fan climbing the floodlight in their end.

Same game was stood outside the ticket office with my old man waiting for one of his mates to meet us. Brum fan came running over screaming something, was just going to stick one on the first person he got to. Bloke stood next to my old man just seemed to stick his fist out, Brum fan ran onto it and knocked himself out.

Remember special Darren away at wiggin at their old ground, trying to kick the ball back over the fencing about 10 times and every time it bounced back off the fence everyone cheering him.

Someone from LL chucking a brew at Beckham at Burnden when he took a throw in?

First season at Reebok, playing United and ball went into ESL for a United throw. Lad on front row held ball towards Phil Neville who had his hands together ready to receive the ball. Lad then threw the ball as far as he could in the opposite direction.

Small things, I know, but was really funny at the time.

John Parrott in the stand next to the Burnden stand when we drew int Fa cup,

One Tony Knowles,

There's only one Tony Knowles!

Hazily remember Fulham walking off and not coming back out to play the extra time, because of a decision they didn't like? Long delay while they were persuaded to return

A few years back my then 15 year old daughter getting an eyeful of a mooning lad's bare arse on the way back from Hull when their minibus passed us on the A63

The pitch invader in fancy dress v Brum at Reebok a year or two back who got as far as giving Joe Hart a bearhug

Colin Hendry dropping his shorts in response to some 'banter' from Burnley fans when warming up before playing them at Turf Moor in the promotion season(I think)

Brian Flynn getting decked at BP v Leeds.

Wood Street Club when a game got called off or abandoned.

The massive snow ball fight v Everton outside BP on New Years Day 79.

we scored an equaliser from near the half way line about 10 minutes into injury time

they weren't happy

bobby moore was sent off - conveniently forgotten by the cockney media when he jossed it

they ran off to their dressing room before agreeing to play extra time

we won it after a second reply - st andrews i think, but it might have been west brom

Remember Moore getting sent off but found this online.

Fulham are involved in yet another sensational rumpus. Bolton equalize in the sixth minute added on for 'time-wasting

When the Fulham players protest, referee Kevin McNally sends off Bobby Moore, the ex-England skipper. To cool the situation manager Alec Stock takes the team off the field. The referee, in the company of two policemen, issues an ultimatum that unless Fulham are back on the pitch within two minutes he'll abandon the tie in favour of the home team, Bolton. Ten-man Fulham return and the League Cup replay ends in a draw.

Bobby Moore escapes last night's sending-off - the second of his career, and the first since 1961 - without a ban, because according to the referee's report, he was dismissed for 'persistent misconduct'. Alec Stock says that he will go to the highest court in the land to obtain justice for Moore and for Fulham. Alan Hardaker reacts by saying that the veteran Fulham manager should have waited until a League decision was announced concerning the waik-out

playing Chelsea circa 2002.  a carrier bag had blown on the pitch towards Zenden.  he promptly picked it up, rolled it up into a ball, and attempted to throw it 10 yards off the pitch.  his face when it gracefully fell to the floor as it left his hand was a picture.

the brum game in 93 was the first time i'd come across the Zulus, but I seem to remember branagan changing boots to face a free kick, and pulling the cross bar down in the same game (?)

tommo declining to call the ref a cunt after being prompted by solitary shout from the paddock.  v tranmere 96 I think?

I remember somebody shouting 'Scousebusters 3' during the minutes 'silence' for Matt Busby.

allardyce out chants at walsall new years day

allardyce out chants v sunderland, televised game, possibly a monday night

oh, and something allardyce clearly forgot, lots of allardyce in chants when certain folk were exposed as dodgy and underhand

*  certain folk - no names

any links to persons living or dead is purely coincidental

I remember somebody shouting 'Scousebusters 3' during the minutes 'silence' for Matt Busby.

30th anniversary of the "disaster". Paddock singing Happy Birthday.

A grown man stood flicking his lighter on and off shouting "burn the freak, burn the freak" in front of Peter Crouch who was stood close to the east lower waiting for a throw in.

Mario Jardel repeatedly pretending to steal the linesmans flag while warming up on his debut against Fulham.

First season at Reebok, playing United and ball went into ESL for a United throw. Lad on front row held ball towards Phil Neville who had his hands together ready to receive the ball. Lad then threw the ball as far as he could in the opposite direction.

Still funny thinking about it now
