Mounts Kipper Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Don't worry chaps. Dougie says our luck will change. There speaks a manager on top of his game. It will only change if we get some new players in and even then its up to Dougie to get a tune out of them I am not holding my breath. Quote
Rembrandt Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Sounded very much like QPR were there for the taking last night. TBH, Daz, the fans have thought that after a lot of games this season - but we've emerged with few points. 6 wins in 27 Championship games isn't down to luck either (not that you said that). Quote

Likewise, Mounts. I've seen no evidence to persuade me that DF can get consistent performances even when he's brought his own players in. But I have the feeling he'll get his chance to prove me wrong and he'll still be in charge till at least October this year. Cross your fingers & toes and hope for the best. White Shirt Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 I'm concerned. Very concerned in fact. But he's still got a few games into next season for me. Think that's fair enough Some of his comments in the past week really haven't helped his cause though. He slated the players after Reading saying they are not good enough, then a week later he said we're only a top striker away from being a top team?? Bizarre Quote
zurichwhite Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Cos he's lost the plot. He reminds me of one of these middle-class graduates fresh out of uni promoted as a manager where real life experience is essential Quote

Bizarre I'd have most of this - I think when he says the'yre not good enough/not up to this division its all about between the ears There definitely a lack of belief Most of them can play A striker or even a centre back who chips in could transform them Quote

captainmed Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 The problem is not about last night. It is about two home wins all season approaching the month of February. It is about the football club suffering the worst start for over 100 years. It is about recently suffering the heaviest defeat for 32 years. It is about not knowing what our best team is. It is about not knowing what our best formation is. It is about being 4 points above the relegation zone. We should not be in this position and the buck stops with DF. Quote

COYW Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 I'm not even sure any manager could halt our current spiral, and that's my point. He's contributed to the downward spiral and if he's incapable of doing anything about it, he shouldn't be there. Quote

Agreed, thought we was poor again last night, won 6 in 27 is ridiculous, his comments these past few weeks have been strange, condemns the players at reading and then goes and says we are only 2 goalscorers off being a top team. Was there last night and it's about time some of the fans started calling for his head, this is worse than megson no matter which way we look at it and he got a barrage of abuse every week (which he did deserve) yet this fella seems to get away with it week in, week out. Rembrandt Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 (edited) apart from the fact that he's got the real life experience? As a man ? As a footballer ? According to Wiki (?) :- Player/Coach at Palace Nov 07 to Mar 08 Assistant Manager Mar 10 to Jan 11 Manager Jan 11 to Oct 12 Sammy Lee proved that coaching experience doesn't necessarily make a manager, so we're left with managerial experience as, well, erm, not a lot. Am I allowed to bring facts into it ? Edited January 29, 2014 by Rembrandt Quote
Casino Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 best part of 2 years in a shit difficult job at palace i'm happy enough with that interestingly, the beginning of his second full season saw his best results Quote

DazBob Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Sammy Lee had no chance once he started dropping 'influential' players. Seeing as we've not got any of them any more, fuck Dougie off and give him another go at it. Hope someone buys him some suits that look like they fit him this time though. Quote

The Spragg Dog Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Well done to the fans who made the long journey down there. It was nice to see all the regulars back in attendance with around a following of 500 fans for a Tuesday night in London was quite impressive. From somebody who went to the game - i feel a few glaring problems which i cannot understand why he hasn't addressed. 3-4 months without a 'proper' left back is not good enough - blatantly obvious why our problem lies with gormless Baptiste not knowing what is going or not what planet he is actually on. 451 - That was what riled me the most on the night when he took the isolated Craig Davies off and brought on the new man Lucas- whom it was nice to see. Swap Pratley with Mark Davies as he is too deep to influence the game from wide and often the ball just goes sailing over his head- waste of time. IMO - time to give the youth a run out - White did well when he came on looked very nervous which you can understand and looks solid defending - which is refreshing to see in a full back but didn't look great going forward (not a major problem) Dougie has lost a lot of the fans and his changes during the game being my main gripe at the his management abilities. Finally a lot of the fans who went were fuming to see all of the players come over to clap the fans (Apart from Knight) and no surprise in not seeing Dougie coming across - lost contact between himself and fans. I will keep the faith. Quote
marple whites Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 The majority of the time in this division, if you have a half decent striker, you can win games that you might not deserve to. Again last night, we should have been leading, but end up having to chase a game. Surely limiting ourselves to 1 up front, whoever we play is shooting ourselves in the foot. Unlesss we support the striker like we did in the first half against Blackpool, we are always going to struggle. The stats that Captain Med has given don't lie and in fact justify to me the position we are in. From now to the end of the seaosn, we have a lot of the big teams to play at home, that will be coming possibly expecting to get 3 points and will take the game to us. We have most of the bottom teams to play away, who will be looking at our game as 3 points, their crowd will be up for it and adds more pressure on to us. Look at Doncasters last 2 home games - both 3-0 wins. Quite a few of the teams below are starting to score (Yeovil 2, Barnsley 2) Its going to be extremely tough for us to survive. How many teams say they are too good to go down, fortunes will change, they were unlucky etc etc - we need to change and quickly. Quote
