January 16, 201412 yr Who knows, that statement as it stands is pretty meaningless. I think it's pretty clear that there are some exceptions. If it related to all contracts there is no reason to avoid saying so. But for a player signed as a squad addition rather than an automatic selection, whose wages would not be of the highest anyway, why penalise him for an outcome to which he will have had little opportunity to overcome? But, not for the first time, we are all casting around in the dark. It comes down to a basic choice - have faith, or don't. Not surprising that there are 2 camps on that.
January 16, 201412 yr Frightening our accounts 3.8 million of gate money and 1.4 million advertising, a wage bill of 30 odd million and administration charges of 14 million, that's a gap of nearly 40 million, the worry is that to be self financing on players wages against income we earn, if we have a squad of 20 players we can only spend just over 100,000 per week on all salaries that's an average wage of less than 5 k per player and that's without management and every one outside the playing staff.
