MalcolmW Posted October 27, 2017 Posted October 27, 2017 Australia or NZ generally are the strongest teams but England's performance this morning and particularly in the 2nd half was encouraging England's captain (Sean O'Loughlin) is Owen Farrell's uncle. His connection goes back further, however, as his elder sister and her boyfriend (Andy Farrell) were 16 year-old babysitters for Sean when Quote
MalcolmW Posted October 27, 2017 Posted October 27, 2017 has someone kidnapped Malcolm? I was just about to explain what the 16 year-old babysitters got up to. Quote
Leyther_Matt Posted October 27, 2017 Posted October 27, 2017 Good game. Great not to put up with every decision being analysed to the nth degree. Scoreline certainly wasn’t a fair reflection. Quote
Casino Posted October 27, 2017 Posted October 27, 2017 Watched it as live just now Always thought play the balls were quicker down south Aussies seemed to be slowing it down to me Anyway, play again in the final, it's 30 points difference Quote
Alf Hartigan Posted October 27, 2017 Posted October 27, 2017 Not really arsed about RL internationally, but watched it live this morning cos I had nowt else to do. Nearly switched off in the first half when we looked like getting over run. We were the better team in second half though and could have had something, they were desperate to take that penalty to go 12-4. Agreed though, 30 points difference next time if it happens. Quote
MalcolmW Posted October 29, 2017 Posted October 29, 2017 Next up for England are Lebanon, who beat France today. There seem to be a lot of Lebanese Australians. It was 18-18 with 7 minutes left, then Moses worked his magic with a drop goal set up by Ro Farah. Moses then scored an individual try collecting his own chip through. Then Travis Robinson added another try. Ireland beat Italy. Next they meet PapuaNew Guinea, who marmalised Wales yesterday. Quote
Leyther_Matt Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 There doesn’t seem to be a lot of Lebanese Australians, Malc, there are THOUSANDS of Lebanese Australians. Cronulla riots and all that. Quote
MalcolmW Posted November 11, 2017 Posted November 11, 2017 Superb second half from Tonga today. From 2-16 at half time against NZ they went on to win 28-22. Quote
MalcolmW Posted November 18, 2017 Posted November 18, 2017 Fiji 4 NZ 2. No tries but an absolute thriller! Quote
Salford Trotter Posted November 18, 2017 Posted November 18, 2017 (edited) Can England beat the mighty PNG?The South Islanders have been really impressive so far so i don't expect an easy game but England should win and Tonga in the Semis will be even tougher. Escobarp Posted November 18, 2017 Posted November 18, 2017 The South Islanders have been really impressive so far so i don't expect an easy game but England should win and Tonga in the Semis will be even tougher. Interesting that as I think the png game will be harder than the semi with Tonga Quote
Underpants Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 Apparently we are in the world cup semi-final against Tonga Moor. Nationally it has gone under the radar; apart from from the hotbeds of Batley, Featherstone and Leigh. I think we'll win by 200+ pts. COYERL Quote

Salford Trotter Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 I can't see the highlights over here but it sounds like a cracking last 7 mins. The Aussies look far too strong for us to trouble them though Quote
Leyther_Matt Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 That left seven minutes scared the shite out of me. Well worth the early start. Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 Inadvertantly watched the game from around 50 mins. Wouldn't normally bother but was impressed by both teams. Quite enjoyed it but not the tension at the end. I thought the singing by the crowd was magical and its a pity the atmosphere didn't come through. Could listen to that all day. Quote
medwaywhite Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 What a atmosphere best I’ve ever encountered, the noise and singing where incredible,90mins after the final whistle they were still at it . I honestly think we have a good chance in the final all the pressure is on them . Quote
medwaywhite Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 Yes till Tuesday then fly out to Sydney for a couple of days then Brisbane for the final Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 Yes till Tuesday then fly out to Sydney for a couple of days then Brisbane for the final Top banana; enjoy it. Wonder if those Tonga supporters fancy making a CD? Quote
MalcolmW Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 Top banana; enjoy it. Wonder if those Tonga supporters fancy making a CD? They certainly put those Welsh singers to shame. And I can see why their flag incorporates a red cross red cross. Quote
Salford Trotter Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 Top banana; enjoy it. Wonder if those Tonga supporters fancy making a CD? The rugby league's equivalent to Iceland Quote
jayjayoghani Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 Amazing support, put NZ'ers to shame. Went to the Lions V All Blacks, barely heard a peep all match. Quote
