A nice warm up for tonight, just watched my grandson's team, Leigh Miners under 12's, beat Heysham 22-0 in the North West Counties Grand Final at Pilkington's in St Helens, excellent atmosphere

I sometimes wish I was brought up on Rugby rather than football. The fans always seem to get along (I was in Manchester yesterday afternoon) and have a really good time. Not sure who I’d support though. Wigan, Leigh or Salford.🤷‍♂️ My one and only attendance at a rugby match was at Salford.
little edit. Cricket will always come first.

I’ve always followed Leigh but when I was in the police covered hundreds of Warrington games as overtime. Never saw any trouble other than once walking out after the game on my own and some Hull fans getting a bit gobby on Wilderspool Causeway. Told them to shut up and they did. Although I did see a massive street fight in Leigh after a night game against Salford on my home from a late shift. They were proper going at it. Both sets.

Superb!!

All four trophies

The John Monie era was incredible but this was beating teams on a similar level

Think they’ve got another couple of years to go to get to that level. Not sure how many of the current crop would get in the 1994 team, but Liam Farrell and Bevan French would certainly be up there for me.

Oh definitely. Completely agree. What I was trying to say quite badly was back in those days the gulf between Wigan and most teams was massive whereas nowadays teams are not too far apart from each other

That’s because they aren’t allowed to buy the league any more 😊

Not as bad as folk pretended to like the NFL.

Is it not the same folk?

And not just pretending to like it, saying stuff like the big house, turdinals, farty whiners

Miners lost 18 - 4, outplayed all over by a team who seemed up for it more, by Christ there are some bloody big lads from Wigan at 12 years old, a 20 lad brawl near the end showed they are learning the ropes from their professional counterparts
