gonzo Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 Went to winter wonderland at the Trafford centre today. Honestly never seen anything like it afterwards. We waited in the car for 20 minutes and couldn't even get out of our parking space. Gave up and spent a few hours in Trafford centre. Not seen a place as busy in my life. Quote

jules_darby Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 Think Oxford rd will be open again when brook street closes, brook street closed from 9th oxford rd 4th -8th.Ahh ok It's still a farce when the roads are busiest all year You can't get up Portland st to the A6 anymore and Princess St will be closed to cars It's going to be hell TFGM fucking over drivers systematically I'll get the train for a month. Standing room only on 2 carriages for 35 minutes That's when the cunts show up It's absolutely ridiculous Quote
MickyD Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 All a massive "told you so" two fingers up from TfGM because the referendum on Congestion Charging didn't go the way they'd hoped. Quote
Youri McAnespie Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 As are 'afternoon/evening' peak prices on the trains (according to a train driver in the pub)... Quote
frank_spencer Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 All a massive "told you so" two fingers up from TfGM because the referendum on Congestion Charging didn't go the way they'd hoped.Despite the fact TfGM didn't actually want congestion charge. They were told by central government they could only have money for investment in public transport if they brought in a congestion charge. Quote
MickyD Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 And when they didn't get what they NEEDED rather than wanted they them sulked. Quote
Spider Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 motorways dead this morning a rare treat. I almost enjoyed coming to work. Almost. Quote
MickyD Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 (edited) Time for the introduction of two layers of car tax. One entitles you to drive any time, the other, much cheaper, entitles you to drive any time except between 7.00 and 9.30 or 16.30 and 18.00. Drivers using the lower tariff will get a number of amnesty tokens annually for in case of emergency use but once these tokens are used your car will be impounded. Lorries would only be able to drive outside the peak times. ANPR cameras could generate the proof of driving time. Edited January 3, 2017 by MickyD Quote
birch-chorley Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 (edited) My Mrs works for TFGM, I've ran this vendetta theory past her and she thinks it's tin foil hat stuff, granted she isn't setting out strategy though I find it quite hard to believe that they will be actively trying to fuck things up Just a mountain of work that needs doing. If you look at the numbers of people living and / or working in Manchester City Centre now vs 30 years a go it's gone through the roof. Yet you can't double the width of a city centre road The trains continue to be an issue with a poor service and limited carriages but that sits outside of TFGM I believe Edited January 3, 2017 by birch-chorley Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 This is nothing. Wait until many tens of thousands of new homes are built. Inadequate public transport, more cars on packed roads, more pollution etc... Costs will rise yet more. Quote

Carlos Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 Dunno, I got to Radcliffe just before the offpeak started, tram turned up bang on 9.30, was in work 35 mins later, 50 mins after setting out, for £4.30. Quote
Casino Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 (edited) moving on a touch, LBC have been covering the cost of train commutes the preferred solution of many seemed to be nationalisation - which they claim would reduce fares now, do these lines make money? if so, im all ears, but if not, why the fcuk should i be subsidising southerners travel to work costs, when the trains we have up here are dreadful i exclude virgin in this, as the few a year i get to london on a saturday are great im aware that some of the private companies receive subsidies, but its way too confusing for me to understand Edited January 3, 2017 by Casino Quote
