I like the thought that religion solely drives these loons. Yes I'm sure that without religion these terrorists and what not. Religion probably does about 98% good compared to bad.

How?

The amount of charity and money raised is huge across the world from all types of religion. It gives a lot of people a good moral compass to work off and I find people of religion can be extremely generous.

 

Don't get me wrong, I know they have their issues and odd thoughts on certain things but I think people have take on board the good religion does when discussing these matters.

But a lot of money is raised by the Catholic church for Africa. Both our statements will be true and while I concur that religions aren't all singing and dancing, I still agree they do a lot of good.

Name one good or charitable act which you have to be religious to carry out. The opposite question works just as well - name an evil act which only the religious could carry out. You've probably already thought of half a dozen. By the time I've finished typing this sentence someone will have been blown up or beheaded or had their clitoris sliced off as a result of religious morality somewhere in the world.

 

And even if it were true, it says nothing about whether or not god exists. 

See if charity is done off the people's own back, then surely the acts of terrorism is also done off their own backs. Or is that different?
