Whites man Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 FAO Mark Iles; if he gets the job I will give you £50 if the back page headline in the BEN is "Lennon party". Quote

gonzo Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 What has he actually done? He is accused of being anti-remembrance but there's plenty of photos of him wearing a poppy. Then he is supposed to enjoy a good old IRA sing song when he is on the record attacking sectarian chants & accusing Scottish based Celtic fans of knowing f@ck all about the realities of the situation in Northern Ireland. From what I can gather, the blue half of Glasgow has tried to throw as much shit at him as humanly possible. He played for ulster he got bullets sent to his house. He spat on a rangers scarf in 04 so someone sent a bomb to his house and got attacked in the street. He bought a piece of land that was once owned by a bloke who knew someone that might have been connected to the IRA. He had another bomb sent to his house and death threats made. It's all tit for tat bollocks that belongs in Glasgow, not in Bolton. He's better off out of there IMO. Quote
Traf Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 I agree with Gonz, but HTown appears to be a hotbed of resistance. I blame Smiffs, NB & that Red Adair bloke. Quote
Casino Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 He played for ulster seeing as today might as well be a schoolday and i was surprised when i learned about it ulster is 9 counties only six of them are northern ireland t'other 3 are eire (ooooh, not sure if that opens another can of worms) Quote
Whites man Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 I assume if at partition they had used Ulster's traditional borders then there would have been a Catholic majority. Quote
Ani Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 I do not want Lennon, for reasons mentioen in this thread. It does interest me that given his gig with the BBC he can hardly be desperate for work, given our league position and financial position the job could seem one to avoid, so can only assume PG and/or ED must have been able to sell him the job, implies maybe we are not is as much of a mess as it looks. hughmungus Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Your point was that 'his record doesn't look that good away from Celtic'. He doesn't have a record away from Celtic. Good or bad. It's a daft point.Haven't got a clue what your trying to counter argue but my point was we are maybe appointing a man who has no real managerial record apart from 1 club. Is that easier for you Quote

Rembrandt Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 (edited) He has no experience of managing in England, let alone the Championship. He has always had bigger budgets to spend than his rivals. He is a long way off the safe pair of hands with a good track record people wanted a week or so ago That would be my concern. But he, like anyone else appointed, will have my full backing to do a big & difficult (and NOT short-term) job. But he, like anyone else appointed, will have to show he is moving us in the right direction, however slowly, or be judged accordingly. Edited October 12, 2014 by Rembrandt Quote

Rembrandt Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Is Chris being lined up as The Big Mick for 2015 then? I won't breathe until I see Lennon or A.N. Other posing with a scarf or stood in The Macron... It's good to know the runners and riders so early tho'... Unless we get one from way out of left-field. Happened before. Quote

COYW Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 It's an imaginative appointment. It was a decent shortlist so if he was the best candidate, he must have something about him. Let's hope it works out. Quote
