I'm not a fan of what I'm about to say because it's used unnecessarily at times. But Oldham is a proper northern club. Good to see them back in the league. Chuffed for 'em.

How are Preston and Salford cities but Bolton isn't?

Didn't Bolton go for it in the 90s and lose out Sunderland?

Salford has been a city for a long long time, Preston 🤔 f**k knows maybe they had someone on the xfactor that year?

Salford being a city makes a mockery of the whole city status thing

Heartbroken for Hearts today - genuinely.

I didn't expect to feel as gloomy as I did after the game as they've never been a team I've shown much interest in. But it was a footballing fairy tale and would have been ace for Scottish football. It swept me up.

However, seeing the meltdowns on here from the Rangers loving BWFC brigade has put a smile back on my face. Thanks chaps. Bit of Karma for turning up to Hibs pre season & giving it all your sectarian shite.

Celtic are a proper club, with a rich history and a passionate fanbase. They know how to get over the line. As with Rangers, they have plenty of muppets in their fanbase.

Hearts had it in their hands today, no corruption involved, just poor game management. You're one up with a few minutes left to half time. Just get to half time and don't do anything daft. It was clear and obvious according to the current rules, ref gave it and VAR backed it up.

The penalty on Wednesday was a disgrace. Everything that's wrong with VAR, not a conspiracy. You see daft shit like that given in the PL on VAR as well. Get fucking rid of the thing please. And let's organise fan boycotts to raise the issue.

Not watched a PL game in a while - totally immersed in this title race. FA cup final sounded dreary as fuck.

Love live the 'pub league' and fuck VAR

night all. see you at Wembley

They are a 10 year project for Tony Bloom apparently so will be worth a flutter next season.

I heard, back when we lost to Sunderland, that it's the queen who decides and Bolton will never get it after we chopped off that blokes head in the civil war, because he was on the royals side

Traditionally you had to have a cathedral to become a city and Salford has one.

Preston was awarded city status as part of the Queens Jubilee in 2002

About 2 months ago it was 100 years since Salford became a city. Until the huge population growth in the 1800's Salford had always been the physically bigger of the two.

Strange thing about the Salford thing is one minute you're in Manchester city centre, cross the road, and you're in a different city

Can't be too many places in the world where you can do that

Got no idea where Salford city centre is though

I suppose Budapest is probably the nearest example when they were two cities separate by the Danube. A bigger barrier than the Irwell though, it has to be said.

Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee because she was partial to chip spice

Dunno if anyone's watching this United v Forest game, but the PL has given Fernandes (rat) an assist for that goal! Fixed as fuck.

Meanwhile, these new style thick adidas stripes on kits look terrible.

The Catholic Cathedral, built in 1850 has been the centre of Salford Diocese since before that build and is huge at over 600 square miles.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Salford covers a large portion of North-West England.
It includes the cities of Salford and Manchester, most of Greater Manchester north of the River Mersey, parts of Lancashire (including Blackburn, Burnley, and Accrington), and Todmorden in West Yorkshire.

The diocese encompasses the following specific local authority districts:
  • Greater Manchester: City of Manchester, City of Salford, Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, and parts of Stockport, Tameside, Trafford, and Wigan.
  • Lancashire: Blackburn with Darwen, Burnley, Hyndburn, Pendle, Ribble Valley, Rossendale, and South Ribble (including Bamber Bridge).
  • West Yorkshire: The town of Todmorden.

They bang on about that being a great Hull invention even though it's basically cinnamon

And they put mint sauce on chips as well
