I'm not a fan of what I'm about to say because it's used unnecessarily at times. But Oldham is a proper northern club. Good to see them back in the league. Chuffed for 'em.

Find it odd Chorley get to play the final at home

That said, back in my 80s non league days, before it was cool, I saw Horwich win the GMAC Cup and they got to play both the semi final (v Enfield) and final (v Weymouth) at home

They won

Future Bolton physio Faz Page was up front for Horwich, future Chelsea record signing Paul Furlong up front for Enfield

Think they give home advantage to Chorley because they finished higher in the league, Chorley finished  2nd and  Spennymoor finished 4th.

I was at that Weymouth game. Big crowd on that day.

Been the best way to do it for a few seasons now, just do it on merit than playing on a ground fucking miles away for both clubs.

That's what happened against Guiseley the other year when Chorley had a 2-0 HT lead, played at Chorley. Lots of conspiracy theories afterwards when they went down 2-3.

I beg and pray Chorley do it, a cracking day out.

That was the first of the play off finals Chorley missed out on

Second time round it was away at Halifax 2 years ago, sure it went the distance but again Chorley missed out - must have been 8k to 10k on that day including 2k+ from Chorley

Third time lucky tomorrow though, fingers crossed, be massive for the club to get to the Confrence

Aye, one legged semis as well, all a bit different, but do like that six teams get a chance rather than four

If Horwich RMI was still goin these days that would be a top day out.

I was a bit gutted when Leigh RMI got to the conference for a season, had they still been Horwich I'd have done some aways at places like Carlisle

Also recall Leigh getting on SKY in the cup v Millwall, just wasn't the same, pretty sure Felgate turned out for Leigh

Aye, don't recall how many but must've been at least 2k on, or maybe just 1k but given most games attracted around 20 plus a couple of dogs it felt like the whole town had turned out

Other than those two cup games the only other decent crowd I recall at Grundy Hill was a pre season game v Bolton in 93 or 94

Didn’t Leigh RMI play Kevin Keegan Fulham in the FA Cup on TV or am I making it up?

What happened to Leigh RMI?

Yep, fucking sell out at Hilton Park and gave them a proper game, final score eludes me

1-0 Fulham?

This NL play off final surely would have been better suited to being played at a smaller neutral venue.

Under normal circumstances I'd suggest the UniBol...

Gigg Lane would have been big enough.

It did sound strange to have the commentators talk about how Salford have really brought credibility to the non league scene. I don't really get that, money and resentment maybe?

We're destined to play these in a competitive game soon it's obvious.

Aye, real non-league credibility, they're owned by 6 millionaires and a billionaire, who had to put £2.4m in last season to cover their £40k a week losses.

Had to Google it

In 1998 Leigh got a draw away at Fulham 1-1 and then lost replay at home 2-0 with a 7k crowd

Felgate played a blinder in the first tie which Keegan described as "the best I've ever seen at any level"

They got Millwall at home a couple of years later but on police advice it was played at Millwall, they lost 3-0, Felgate played that game too

I seen that article on Twitter about the 8k attendance yesterday being not even half as many as the next lowest for a NL final there, Gigg would have had Emory seats!

Shame there's no prospect of Salford v Bury next season, Oldham still there though.

I was a ball boy for the replay and played on the pitch at Craven Cottage at half time in the first game.

What was the crowd?>

Salford will probably lose fans now they are in the league. I used to watch Accy Stanley quite a bit in non league but you can only support 1 league club

2 more goals for ALF with 20 mins left to get hat trick in the Boddingtons League championship semi final live on BT1.

Coyle in Preston yesterday, looking for a table tennis partner... I was so tempted to shout 'CUNT'...

But you resisted? You must have a hell of a willpower.

I was walking behind him at first & I was considering whether to slap him on the back of the head or take him out in a Norman Hunter stylee

Variations of "allez allez allez", coming to every ground in the country very soon. Next season's "don't take me home".
