This season has been his best for about 6 years, shithouse of a player. But what a player he has been.

 

2nd to Del Piero in Italy since Robby Baggio.

He was good last season, albeit often in roles he probably didn't like and in a team that couldn't defend for shit.

 

This season, in front of a defence that has conceded one in seven, and with Gervinho's pace and industry to work with, he looks as good as ever.

 

He might not be quite so effective with Ljajic or, God forbid, Destro as a foil.

Roma seem to suit him better than Arsenal, certainly. His effort was never in doubt but I don't think he was technically good enough for intricate twelve pass moves in congested penalty areas. Roma's style of play leaves him more space to utilise his pace, and Totti is brilliant at both creating that space and putting the ball into it.

 

The Roma manager had Gervinho at Le Mans and Lille, too, and obviously knows how to get the best out of him.
