They also had David Beckham, Jaap Stam, York and Cole. Hardly a team of also-rans ffs. That team was one of the best of all time and won title after title 🤦‍♂️

I give up on folk who cant understand peps influence on football. Its all the way to grass roots.

Sorry I was being flippant. Tone never comes across well online does it? For me Pep is miles ahead of any other manger. Absolute genius

We don't agree on everything then :D

A cleverly thought out defensive strategy from the "farmers" (FFS, from one of the most heavily industrialised cities in Italy - there's some numb fuckers about) which kept them in with a shout against arguably the finest football team currently on the planet. Interesting to think what might have happened if Inter had equalised?

Very glad that City won for England and to shove it up those red bastards down the road but, City hardly went through them 'like a flock of seagulls' did they Gonzo?

They did a fine job on City, no doubt about it. It was just a turgid watch.

Once Lukaku came on, and they had to go for it, the game was much better.

Just couldn't get into that style. Just like watching Italy too- it's endemic.

I despise how City have bought so much of their success, I can't find it in me to want them to do well. But I can't help be happy for Pep. He's a mastermind, the way they way they swept aside Bayern and Madrid was incredible. He's played a pivotal role in it all and it goes to show what can be achieved when you give a great manager the time to build a philosophy through a club.

City already had De Bruyne etc so they didn't need to spend big during that time frame, but where City have done really well is selling on players - they always seem to get good money for the players they move on and the figures are NET spend - i.e. purchases less sales.

Yes they do sell a few for profit (Sterling, Jesus, Torres, Sane ÂŁ50mil each reportedly).

But their current squad is eye wateringly expensive, according to one website I looked at (no idea of accuracy obviously):

Grealish 117,  Dias 71, Rodri 70, Mahrez 68, Laporte 65, Haaland 60, KDB 54, Silva 50, Phillips 49, Stones 48, Walker 45, Ake 45, Ederson 40, Alvarez 21, Gundogen 20, Akanji 18

That's about 850mil and doesn't even include Foden!  Or players that have left during the season.

No idea what other Prem or European teams have cost but surely not that much?  It puts a big asterisk next to it all for me, they should be winning shouldn't they?

Look at Gonzo's table.

Spend as much as you want if you're generating income.

I do get that, and fair play for getting ÂŁ200mil for the 4 players I mentioned above.

But Mahrez, Laporte, Walker, Silva, Ederson, KDB, Stones and Gundogan may not be included on Gonzo's table.

They all signed between 2016 and 2018, so most if not all won't be counted on the 5 year table.  They account for £400mil.

On that basis alone Chelsea should have won everything this season.

Look at previous tables.

Gradually they have increased sales and are approaching a more sustainable model. Just required huge investment first.

You've missed out the many lower level players they produce and sell on, and money received from gates, tv etc.

Of course they are under investigation, and should be punished for any wrongdoing, but the concept that they just spend so should win everything is flawed.

They invested in a top manager through which the rest has flowed.

That’s quite enough DMB appreciation for one day. You need to nip out to the pub and wash your mouth out with copious pints of whatever you drink.

Good response, I have no explanation as to how bad they've been! Car crash of a club, hilarious.

Was an horrendous period. I was a teenager, full of venomous hate and anger.

Had Munich 58 scrawled all over my text books. Hated them so fucking much and the cunts kept winning.

Grew up, chilled out and missed the glory years of them being a bit crapper than usual :D

I can't argued with that, he's a proven top manager, and not only at City.

I don't claim to know all the facts, far from it, but the "lower level players" leaves a bad taste overall because of how they end up under the City umbrella in the first place.  The alleged stockpiling, bringing young players in from the other clubs the City Group own, loaning them out across the world, cherry picking the few that are good enough to make it, selling on without a ball being kicked for City.

As you say they'll be punished if they've done anything wrong, but they are so huge globally their domination feels inevitable rather than an outstanding achievement.  There's a story when they lose, hardly registers with me when they win, and as I've said before I've nothing against City, I've got some great City mates and I'm genuinely pleased they had the time of their lives yesterday.

I don't normally watch soccer aid... But my lad wants to watch it.

Alex Scott must be wetter than an otters pocket under that dress in this weather.

Anyone doubting the negative effect on BWFC of Man City’s success should have seen the state of Horwich Parkway earlier. Chocked full of the glory hunting bastards.

Don’t be daft it’s only the red side of Manchester that have glory hunters

Imagine being a Utd fan working in Manchester today, finishing work and finding City fans lining the streets everywhere you turn, like waking into a nightmare.  The boot's been on t'other foot enough times though.
