Because playing in Europe is brilliant, and this gives more fans the opportunity to experience it.

It is the Papa Johns but instead of Leeds U23s you go off to Cyprus/Denmark/Belgium to play teams you've never played before.

If we stop 'rewarding failure' you end up with only Man City in the Champions League and that's that. Sounds shit.

I think it’s fair to say it the achievement of getting in to Europe is diluted a little bit when so many teams are invited to the party, but it’s a party all the same. Bring back the Anglo Italian Cup, I say.

i'm all for a jolly up, but dont think you should be playing in europe for finishing 7th in your domestic league 

it wont be long before this filters further down

If we ever get back into Europe in any capacity, even the Europa Conference, it will be a monumental achievement and every Wanderers fan will be delirious with joy so talking down the competition is bollocks. I only wish it was us and not Wet Spam.

Well if you look at it like that...its like letting 4 teams in the Champions league....

Teams not even the Champions or best in their league are winning it....so by your criteria, rewarding failure and letting losers get a chance for a cup....

Other fans can sneer as much as they want about West Ham winning a 'Mickey Mouse' trophy but, ultimately, why do we support a football club?  We support a club and the dream is to watch them lift silverware.  Many of those West Ham fans last night will have never seen their team do it before. 

That win last night meant more to West Ham fans than any Champions League final win would do to a fan of an 'elite' club.

 

What a lot of so-called football fans don't get is it's not all about playing at the very top.  A last minute winner in a League 2 match feels every bit as special as a last minute winner in a Premier League match.  If you don't get that then you don't really get football.
