I'm not a fan of what I'm about to say because it's used unnecessarily at times. But Oldham is a proper northern club. Good to see them back in the league. Chuffed for 'em.

Mans a machine.

Watching a depleted Norwich - who looked doomed before Clement took over -  beating Leicester and it is an object lesson in teamwork. Leicester are packed with great individuals including a load of well known quality players, most of whom have played in the Premier League but they are just struggling and heading towards League One. One of the favourites to get promoted at the beginning of the season. Still look too good for L1 though - but that’s their fate if they don’t get it together.

Yes he is and I still wouldn’t count Barnsley out of making the play offs yet with players like McGoldrick, Cleary, Philips and Luca. There’s always one that comes with a run late and this year it could be the Tykes?

They ship too many goals - 1.7 a match this season!

There are plenty of clubs in that group that have made it look like they might sneak in (Peterborough, Wycombe, Reading) but they can’t put enough of a run together to catch and then soon drop away. I know Barnsley have the games in hand but I just can’t see them bridging the gap with that defensive record.

They still have to play all the teams above them so it'll be good news for us if they do. Playing twice a week from now till the end of the season and they'll be absolutely fucked going into the playoffs. Doubt they get anywhere near though.

Barnsley we’re in a good position to make a run for the playoffs a month ago but a couple of bad results have slowed their progress and given that points will be harder to come by from here on in, I think they may struggle now

Yeah that's the thing, the chasing pack basically have to be perfect from here on it whereas we can have a few bad results and not really worry

Big Dave just scored for Accrington at Bromley, while (shock horror), Nlundulu has scored for St Mirren

Right, Cardiff/Lincoln coming up.

What is the best result for us?

A draw.

A Cardiff win as they're a point further on.

A Lincoln win, go top and put the willies up the welshies and hope we can capitalise when we play them later.

Doesn’t matter. I’m more than glass half full but we aren’t catching them.

If we want to cling onto the faintest of hopes then Cardiff do Lincoln, but still wouldn’t matter IMO.

Cardiff win by 6

Both teams have 3 sent off and 4 players from each stretchered off with long term injuries

Then both get 15 points deduction for fielding inelegable players

Newcastle aren't doing so clever this season

Seems reasonable.

😁

If we’d have signed McGoldrick this summer there’d have been a fucking Samaritans squad outside the ground handing help pamphlets out

Sorry if it won't play.....its nothing important 😀

Only based on the EFL highlights show, but Bang Average is taking well to the championship with Norwich. Tore Leicester defenders a new one on multiple occasions today.

Good chance that the 3 coming down this year are Sheff Weds, Leicester and West Brom (at least 2 of the 3) - we could really do with getting out of this league this year!

Aye we're not.

Unless Lincoln suffer some nasty spate of injuries I just can't see it.

They need a massive blip and we need to win 3/4 games in a row when they're on it.

They've just turned into a proper outfit and have had some cracking results. I didn't expect anyone to do this back at Christmas. Genuinely felt that if we could improve on our away form and get some quality in that we could make the autos. We've done both, but Lincoln have simply been too good.

Ridiculous he's hardly played a game since Oxford till this month.

Above average championship standard all day long, can't believe we had him in L1.

Oxford will go down and be no more threat than the 3 that came down this year (might win the league but might do a Luton).  Sheff Wed have a good chance of having a points deduction now that the potential buyers have pulled out.  I'm not wishing it on them as they deserve a break, but they have plenty issues.

WBA and Leicester different kettle of fish, looks like one of them will come down and probably do a Cardiff.

I find it incredible that Leicester and West Brom are remotely in danger.

Wednesday's proposed takeover is off, and there is talk of a heavy points deduction for next season.

Would take something special to see them promoted if that was the case.

Fair points and agree with Oxford.

Never know with the Wednesday situation, I thought Cardiff were in financial trouble (granted not in admin) and Derby weren’t exactly flush, but the big teams seem to still be too good for L1.

A few other points from watching the EFL show

- there seems to be loads of goals scored from corners. I’d love to see some stats but I’d bet that this season has seen materially more than normal scored across the leagues.

- Kevin Lisbie’s lad at Posh is mustard. I’ve took note of him because of who his dad is and he seems to score or create every time I see him.

- Port Vale’s pitch looks like something from the 80s, it makes PNE’s look like Wembley!

- Evatt is as deluded as ever
