Fa Cup Or Outside Chance Of Playoffs

this year cup run and 10th for me

Featured Replies

Neither after tonight. Season will be over by the end of next week

Both

Where there is life...

Play offs for me and a 10 game unbeaten run is needed we have to give it a shot. Mind you I don't want it to be the scousers to take us out.

League for me, not arsed about cup, crap draw if we get through and, yes, it might have earned us £1m, if we make a late run to play-offs and go up we make about 80 times that much. Would sooner have lost honourably Sat and won tonight

We dont have a chance of play offs so mid table and a cup run for me - get past the next two rounds

5 more games to win more than every team above us with 19 left is a mountain to climb and with Liverpool losing tonight they'll be all out for a result at our place for Captain Fantastic last season, they'll really want that FA Cup now. But if we beat them that'll really piss on their chips, I'd enjoy that :)

Play offs ain't happening. Februarys always will totally end it. Top half will be excellent. 40 points from 19 games no way. Not with some of the always we've got left, would need win neat all home games, 9 from 10

Beating the accusers and Wigan relegated will do for me

This. Purely down to injuries

Both. Still think with a couple of personnel in, neither are impossible.

Can't see any way past the scousers next week with really no forwards available to give them any trouble it's going to be a long evening.

Next season for me, I will enjoy what's left of this, and then watch us storm the league. If we don't it won't make any difference to me I will still go and enjoy watching My Team.

If we had a fully fit squad then I think we'd be closer to the play offs now and would have a really good chance. And Lennon would probably have rested players for cup games.

As it is we're robbed of all our creative players any of our strikers who can run and are therefore not going to get past Liverpool or get close to the play offs. Personally I'm just hoping we don't get dragged back into a relegation fight. We shouldn't but then if we play many more games with just old men and Wilkinson up front that is what will happen.

Liverpool replay is a catch 22 now with the poor draw.  Palace away on a Friday night or Sunday teatime and the trains are knackered that weekend.

Last night was a good reality check that we are still miles off the playoffs, but we still need to keep a watch over our shoulder............

Late kick off Sat I think

I'd love a Cup Run and I'd love to make the play-offs.

Play-offs are a more realistic proposition than the Cup Final, but I can't see us making either.

A top half finish is to be considered success in my eyes.

Be more than happy with a top half finish and above Blackburn.

Next season...

The play offs aren't happening this season, fact. Next season will be our time.

Next season...

Amen, brother.

No reason why play offs couldnt be achievable with a couple of further additions; if I remember right we were 4th bottom on 1st Feb two seasons ago when we lost to Watford and ended up tossing play-offs on last day. If we'd won last night we'd have been 10th and in the shake up.

I think I'm missing something!

At an average 2 ppg is it still mathematically possible to hit the play offs?

A defeat & the pessimism starts, beat the Dogheads Saturday & is it back on again?

I think February will tell us exactly which way it's going to go.

The longer we're in the Cup the harder the Play-offs will be.

Anyway, still on for a 90point season :)

Irrespective of last night's result, the sheer fact we could have ended the evening in the top 10 is a fair indicator of the excellent work going on.

We were due a bad day at the office. Shit happens.

Its how we recover from it that counts.

31st Jan & the rest of Feb is massive.

The longer we stay in the cup the more Lennon will get for building his squad for next season. If he had money now to strengthen i would fancy us to make the playoffs but i think the squad is just to bare at the moment.

Either for me. But mostly what Matt said.
