I agree. Only a fortnight ago the only conversations were about human rights and how stupid it was to hold it in winter with little or no mention of the actual football - maybe that's why the group stages were so surprisingly good i.e. they hadn't been analysed to death by the time they started.

Maybe opinions will change if we lose to France but so far it's been a proper winter warmer.

Talking of 'human rights' I'm sure some people may feel I'd be a little out of order but I would take a fckg machete to any player taking penalties doing those weird little stop & starts, stutters, no run-ups penalties.

I think the players are fresher than when the World Cup is straight after the season has ended, that might be playing a part in this being great to WC.
