Ronaldo, as we all know, was dropped by Portugal following his infantile reaction to being subbed in the group matches.

Apparently,  on being told he wasn't starting against the Swiss, he had a melt down & threatened to leave the squad.

He came on, in their 6-1 victory, on the 71st minute, didn't score or assist and at the final whistle didn't join the squad but sloped off to the dressing room. After the game the subs went onto the pitch to warm-down Whilst the players warmed down in a gym ... he went to the gym.

You can find reasons & excuses for some behaviours but collectively they show a petulant, arrogant prick.

Me too but if you look at the raw stats, not much between them pace wise. Mbappe is widely regarded as the worlds best player at the moment. Much as I like Walker as a player, he will never get anywhere near that accolade.

Very rarely watch press conferences but caught Kalvin Philips being interviewed this afternoon and he came across very well. Asked the usual bunch of pointless questions and answered them with good humour and eloquence.

my opinion is exactly the type of player you need in games like this can receive the ball and pass the ball FORWARD on occasion

 

i think hes good at what he does, as a player in a team with better players than the oppo

It's a quandary that's going to be giving Southgate a headache.  France have shown they're a team that you can create chances against, so if we go for the jugular then everyone pushing up leaves us wide open for France to counter us with the pace of Mbappe and Dembele.

If we concern ourselves too much about Mbappe and Dembele then it'll be deemed as too defensive and he'll get pelters for it.

It's gonna be a nervous 90 (or 120) minutes.

With England it’s a whole new ball game. The only thing that will stop the Southgate critics will be a convincing win and for the likes of bolty a statement saying he’s no longer interested in rainbows/kneeling/human rights.

All of which isn’t going to happen, so he’ll never please everybody.

Fortunately, and importantly, his players believe in him, he brings out the best in them, he’s able to block out the external noise and calmy and professionally focus on the job in hand.

Best and most successful England manager in my lifetime.

If Croatia had anything about them on the ball going forward then they could take advantage of the fact that Brazil are basically playing 5 forwards and 1 midfielder (similar set up to us in the World Cup semi final with Lingard and Alli in the midfield 3!!). As it is, they’re pretty toothless so I imagine Brazil’s forwards will eventually pick them off

Think it's only feet and throw ins they can't pick it up from, and the throw in doesn't have to be backwards
