Qatar World Cup

Right - forgetting the bent bidding process and the conditions of the migrant workers building the stadiums - does anybody else agree that a Nov/Dec competition has the potential to be ace?

Firstly because it will take up most of the traditional Christmas bullshit season so we'll all be talking about football and not festivities. Secondly just for the novelty factor. And thirdly because we can see whether or not our well worn excuse about our players being tired stands up to scrutiny.

Like I said the team will be players he picks not inherited.

Not sure what Southgate’s level was when he was appointed?

If he was still any good bigger clubs than Roma would be interested

But they weren't

Might surprise you this but if Gareth Southgate was decent he wouldn’t have been unemployed for 4 years after being sacked by the mighty Middlesboro. He then flunked as the u21 manager before somehow being appointed as first team coach.

Different strokes for Different folks innit.

Hes obviously found his career in international management.

It's completely different to club management.

Hes been a complete success.

Jose, although I love the bloke, is short term fix. Comes in, sorts the gaff out, wins summet then it all blows apart after hes upset every fucker.

Think the handbrakes on with GS, fuck me imagine us parking the bus all over tournaments with jose in.

Gutted, absolutely gutted, I do it every time believing we’ll win it. They played really well - don’t really want to analyse it too much.

And if the debate is about Mourinho replacing Southgate then I think I’m done with this thread.

Auf Wiedersehen till we go again in 2024.

How? We are getting to the stages that we’ve been to before, well there or thereabouts, we need that next manager to take us to that next level.

He's been involved with a bigger picture with the St George's Park thing. Long term project rather than getting some short term project with a manager on the wane

France invested in their Clemfontaine (?) equivalent and it paid off

The players buy into Southgate. Jose managed to piss off Salah and De Bruyne and sold them

That worked well

I wouldn't mind seeing Steve Holland stay on in some capacity. Could he make the jump perhaps? Or be there as a number 2 with any potential new manager to smooth the transition.

Seriously? 😂😂 Salah and KDB left in 2014 Chelsea won a double that year it’s kind of like he knew what he was doing.

He publicly slagged off De Bruyne when he didn't need to

Knew what he was doing getting rid of those two is laughable

3 points off 4th at a club where he’s been at for just 18 months.

Using your logic Liverpool are 6th 3 points off ……6th.
Would Klopp be no good?

For England, no

Club football is what he excels at

Club football is what Jose used to excel at

I agree, To put it in a BWFC perspective Southgate done the Phil Neal bit, now we need to find a Bruce Rioch.

Neither have done both so you’re guessing.

Southgate has done both and has  nothing to show, I’m not guessing

Why’s there a massive shortage of successful English managers in our top flight?

I think it's time we gave a manager from an ethnic minority a chance at international level.

We can do all the kneeling we want, but until we start to show some leadership on this, it's mainly just all talk.

Someone like Sol Campbell could do a good job. Has football management experience, understands international football inside out and would be a great role model for any of the younger centre halves.

Because they rarely get the top jobs, Allardyce did 20 years mainly in Prem and never landed top club job, Redknapp was one of the few who did back in the day, Howe might get the chance if he continues to do well at Newcastle, I’d take Dyche over Southgate all day long as a manager who’d get results, however his face won’t fit with the FA and his biggest mistake was not taking a better job while doing well at Burnley.
