Right - forgetting the bent bidding process and the conditions of the migrant workers building the stadiums - does anybody else agree that a Nov/Dec competition has the potential to be ace?

 

Firstly because it will take up most of the traditional Christmas bullshit season so we'll all be talking about football and not festivities. Secondly just for the novelty factor. And thirdly because we can see whether or not our well worn excuse about our players being tired stands up to scrutiny.

Personnel wise yes we have better players, but we are still perennial bottlers, need a manager who instils that winning mentality, not sure who but it sure isn’t Southgate. They’re to old… would of been decent 5 a side team though. Seriously though they were playing 10 plus years ago, was thinking more about the squad Southgate inherited.

They’re all winners at their clubs. These are lads who really don’t need motivating.

Truth is, we were a couple of incorrect decisions by the ref away from probably winning last night.

He didnt inherit it. He is/was part of the process that has built that sqaud from top to bottom.

 

You could get a pep and klopp combo. They cant make Kane put that pen away or stop griezman landing the ball on six pence.

Such fine margins. For some reason we seem to end up on the wrong side.

It was like watching City v Real last season. They just found a way to win.

Not sure any manager can instill that kind of belief.

The decision to replace Saka with Sterling still has me scratching my head.

Wrong decisions effect most teams, the foul on Saka seen them go either way, sadly we had 3 or 4 chances to stop the 1st goal and failed, we have to stop using the decisions as an excuse you have to overcome these decisions and be mentally resilient, even then we had the game in our hands and once again failed to convert the penalty. 

Normally we go out of tournaments having not turned up and deserving to lose. Matched France yesterday and could easily have beaten the team that are likely to be double world champions. That’s improvement in my eyes.

100% agree he was running them ragged, these decisions are what the best managers get right, again Southgate made a bad call, same as putting the kids up for the penalties last time. Southgate done a lot of fantastic work but again has fallen short.  

Gutted about last night still. We go again though.
