Qatar World Cup

Right - forgetting the bent bidding process and the conditions of the migrant workers building the stadiums - does anybody else agree that a Nov/Dec competition has the potential to be ace?

Firstly because it will take up most of the traditional Christmas bullshit season so we'll all be talking about football and not festivities. Secondly just for the novelty factor. And thirdly because we can see whether or not our well worn excuse about our players being tired stands up to scrutiny.

Over the past 40 years I can’t remember too many World Cup matches where we outplayed truly top class opposition. In fact we generally limp out with whimper. We’ve probably had more talented squads and higher profile managers in the past but none have been able to deliver the type of performance we saw last night. For me Southgate absolutely deserves a crack at the Euros with a group who clearly still want him.

Rubbish, we’ve had plenty of better performances than last night, under Robson & Venables to name 2. Southgate has had 3 big games and lost all 3. I’m actually up for keeping him in charge for the Euros just to prove the point that he ain’t good enough.

Remember folks, its only a big game when we lose

It can be a big game, but only until we win

It’s not all about winning mounts. As long as the team have a good relationship with each other and play for the manager that’s all that counts. Trophy’s are so 1980s

I'd say V Denmark in the Euro semi, put us into a final for the first time since 1966

Silly billy

If we win, its not a biggie

Am i missing some disasters or are the last 3 comps, semi, final and quarters?

Losing to finalist, winner and to be confirmed?

I’ll take the German one as a big win, Colombia and Denmark id expect us to win, so we are looking at 1 big win and 3 big defeats…and those 3 defeats some poor decisions by Southgate which played a big part in us losing.

What did we win with those so called better performances under Robson or Venables?

The discussion is about performance levels as we’ve won nothing since 66 and some of the performances under venables and Robson were far better than any I’ve seen under Southgate.

So last night was a poor performance?

Really?

Venables didn't even have to qualify the euros then won 2 out of 5 in the tournament

It isnt about performance levels

Its about winning 'big games'

Still a win mate, so add it to the list

Its probably the full list bar one or 2 all the way to 66

When he admits its all about the knee we can get back to him flogging that other dead horse

Germany havent been a top 10 team for a while now, Denmark around the 10th position. We are expected to win these games.

Fwiw, if we sack him tmrw and ill not be arsed

Cant see us performing better with anybody else

If you want to play the ranking game, we lost to france who are ranked above us

Sacking Southgate ain’t stopping us taking the knee.
