Qatar World Cup

Right - forgetting the bent bidding process and the conditions of the migrant workers building the stadiums - does anybody else agree that a Nov/Dec competition has the potential to be ace?

Firstly because it will take up most of the traditional Christmas bullshit season so we'll all be talking about football and not festivities. Secondly just for the novelty factor. And thirdly because we can see whether or not our well worn excuse about our players being tired stands up to scrutiny.

Brazil. Population of over 200 million, great footballing tradition and couldn't find a better referee to send to the World Cup.

We deserved at least a point.

Ah well, England are so Spursy, right onto Christmas and enjoying the next Bolton match.

No point being the better team and fkin losing is there

Don't think they intended it to lose.

I'd also prefer to go out feeling we did well and it just wasn't our day, as perform terribly and get hammered.

France haven't been great throughout and their name may just be on the cup.

Come on Morocco.

I feel the same. I hate it when we get knocked out and it feels like we went out with a whimper.

I don't feel like that tonight at all.

Aye.

It will possibly hurt the players more as they'll feel that they should have done better. Arguably they should, but on occasions it just doesn't go your way.

We were also playing against the ref at times.

That's a hard one to take.

I thought Saka, Bellingham, Walker and Rice were very good. Foden joined them for a twenty minute spell in the second half where we really had them worried.

If there's any silver lining it's that in future tournaments we should go into these kinds of matches knowing we have nothing to fear and are well capable of competing.

Foden needs to be free to roam or to play as a false 9 if Kane has left the scene.

Cmon Morocco, my team in the sweep

Going to 'adopt' them now. Can't get behind the frogs.

Wife’s too.

World Cup has finished for me tonight

Not too despondent, we've got 3 of the best young players in the world under 21ish who'll be around a while.

Did ok, was probably the best team but ultimately our defending let us down.

Sure, Kane should have scored from the spot but I never feel safe when the ball is in between slabhead and Stones.

No disgrace, we'll go again

Me too.

A French or Argentine win is a shit choice, isn't it?

Croatia

gutted, the irony/disbelief of Kane missing a penalty. Poor lad.

Different emotion tonight compared to usual after a tournament loss. Disappointed and proud rather than angry.

Can't see past the Frogs again. Better than anything else left in

Proud tonight. By far the better team

not often you say that after a World Cup defeat

Not keen on any of the four left but Croatia just about the pick for me, if their legs dont give out.

We played all right for much of it, as good as them for much of it, just didn't create enough in open play or force Lloris (who was iffy) into enough action.

I love Croatia as a place, been loads on holiday, the people are fantastic and humble.

Frogs v Argies in final though. Hope there's a few injuries

We don’t have that killer instinct, that ruthlessness and arrogance that other teams have. There’s numerous tournaments we could and should have won but we bottle it. Same old story

* Get Jose in

Nah.

Southgate deserves another world cup campaign in my eyes.

Another failure would be incoming… simply not good enough.

It’s not like any other England manager since Sir Alf has come anywhere near Southgates results in major tournaments.

We’ve got the players, that squad is amazing, like many others before them. There’s always something missing though. Always the same old story. England fans beginning to sound like scousers which will please @Spider
