May 22, 201511 yr Ridiculous article in BEN by Mjallby. Heskey and Gudjohnsen saved us..... Yeah right...... Since the Rotherham away game at the end of January 15, in 20 games to the end of the season our form was W4, D6, L10 - 18 points..... As they both arrived late December 2014, then their impact has clearly not been seen on the pitch. They must be bloody marvellous in the Dressing Room, is all I can say. A mistake IMO signing one or both of them for the forthcoming season.
May 22, 201511 yr I don't think either of them have signed a new deal yet. Apparently, Heskey was being paid 2k a week last season and I think Eidur's deal was more of a "pay as you play" kind of deal. Not fussed either way if they stay or go tbh.
May 22, 201511 yr I wouldn't have signed Heskey up personally, he had a couple of good games but nothing more, i'd rather put his wages towards getting a more consistent first team regular

I'd say his influence is worth that and what you'd get for that elsewhere wouldn't compare That said if we lose out on ALF for example for the sake of an extra grand per week I'd change my mind!

I don't think it's nonsense the results would've been worse without them worth signing them just for the Rovers game on Boxing Day but they've both chipped in with goals and assist without which we would have got relegated.
May 22, 201511 yr Without them we would have been even more bare bones I'm sure there were a few games around Xmas / jam when they were the only fit strikers
May 22, 201511 yr Fair comment from Mjallby in my eyes, I don't think either were signed as 90 minute players. but circumstances meant they were forced to, neither let us down in fairness when the chips where down.
May 22, 201511 yr Heskey impressed me last season. Using the old fans theory of not minding if you're shit as long as you try. He gave his all when he played for us. Was his all good enough? Probably not but needs must.
May 22, 201511 yr Saved us is a bit strong. They certainly played a part though in getting us enough points to stay up. Signing Heskey again is a baffling decision though in my view.
May 22, 201511 yr I think Gudjohnsen certainly played his part, Heskey for me was mostly ineffective.
May 22, 201511 yr Eidur for me is still class and some of his movement and passing was a joy to watch in the last few months. (very little else) Both him and Heskey will help the youngsters greatly and if thats all we are paying them, it seems a good idea to have them around next season. Heskey had a couple of good games (certainly Sheff Wed away and Wigan away) when he was holding the ball up superbly.
May 22, 201511 yr People only think eidur did his part as they remember eidur who we sold to Chelsea Well apart from Mjallby and Lennon
May 22, 201511 yr People only think eidur did his part as they remember eidur who we sold to Chelsea Eidur has something to offer even though he's lost his pace. Heskey did a job but is short for me over a season.
May 22, 201511 yr I can see the merits of keeping one of them around, I don't want both of them staying though

May 22, 201511 yr Saved us is a bit strong. They certainly played a part though in getting us enough points to stay up. So without them we might not have got enough points to stay up? Saved us sounds a bit right then. Personally though, I consider ALF and Amos to have been more saviours this past season.
May 22, 201511 yr So without them we might not have got enough points to stay up? Saved us sounds a bit right then. Personally though, I consider ALF and Amos to have been more saviours this past season. Played a part is different to saving us single or double handedly. They made a contribution as did lots of players. Over the season Liam Feeney will have contributed more in terms of goals and assists than the two combined. Would you describe Liam Feeney as our saviour?

Over the season Liam Feeney will have contributed more in terms of goals and assists than the two combined. Would you describe Liam Feeney as our saviour? Well no. Liam Feeney was already here and playing regularly in the side that was rock bottom. Eidur and Heskey came in around the same time that the club started moving up the league - not saying it's down to them, but then again we don't know what kind of effect they have in the changing room.

So infact it probably shows they hindered us. I'm aware of the injuries and appreciate how they filled the gaps but what you've said about them moving us up the league is bollocks. May 22, 201511 yr I think Gudjohnsen certainly played his part, Heskey for me was mostly ineffective.Agree on both points, although heskeys goal was probably the best home goal celebration in the stands.
May 22, 201511 yr People only think eidur did his part as they remember eidur who we sold to Chelsea Why are you always telling people what they are thinking?
May 23, 201511 yr Think he means who would have played up front when ALFA, Clayton, Clough, Craig Davies were all injured? Wilkindon maybe? He did play a few games and was well out of his depth I don't think anyone is saying it was pretty with Heskey and Eidur getting wheeled on but without them wehad nothing for a while Never known injuries like it
