Managerial Merry-Go-Round

So I came across this article on the BBC.

http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/32957232

Arsene Wenger aside (and MK Dons by a month), you have to go down to League 2 before you even find a manager who has been in the job for over 5 years.

Including those two, there are only SIX managers who have held their jobs since before 2010.

Shocking really.

He's only on a 12 month rolling contract isn't he? Let's say he's on £10k a week tops then that's £500k a year   A buy out clause of £500k would seem both plausible and fair to me. It's basically pay

  • Imagine how much phlegm that caused.

  • How many on here would have kept their season tickets if blame it on the Doogie was still here?   I'm not being disloyal but there would of been no way every game would of been a sell out and with w

On that note, which of our managers have gone on to do bigger and better things?

Genuine question. Big Sam is probably our best export.

Struggling to think of many more before him. Rioch lasted a season at Arsenal, fuck knows where Todd ended up and Phil Neale became Yes boss.

What happened to yon mon that got us up in the 70's?

Jimmy Armfield took Leeds to a European Cup Final.

Also, it's debatable whether Big Sam has ever bettered what he did at Bolton. Tread water ever since - and in some cases, with good money to spend. Right man at the right time at Bolton. When he really had something to prove. Not unlike Lennon right now.

Quite true. Don't think he ever finished higher than 7th after us.

Erm!

No!

Was my point not clear?

No. You will need to spell it out for me

Jimmy Armfield took Leeds to a European Cup Final.

Jimmy Armfield is a lovely bloke, a perfect gentleman. Was at a function a few months ago in Blackpool and someone told him a few of us were Bolton fans, so he came over and had a chat. Wasn't a business thing or anything so he really didn't have to. He said he loved his time in Bolton but always had a cold because he couldn't get used to the climate after the seaside. Came across as such a down to earth, polite and genuinely nice man, puts some of these so called 'legends' today to shame.

Bournemouth with lower crowds spent more last year than we will this, but we have to live with the legacy of previous managers for a number of years yet

They didn't spend anything.

£3m+ for Wilson and £500 for Surman wasn't it?

£3m+ for Wilson and £500 for Surman wasn't it?

Aye....but Bournemouth raked in £3m from Grabban's sale to Norwich & £6.25m from their 25% sell on fee when Lallana went from Southampton to Liverpool.

So. are we going to end up with phil?

Correct, no net spend.

Claudio Ranieri touting himself for the Leicester job, according to the Leicester Mercury - having been sacked as Greece boss. Their fans seem to want Jurgen Klopp. In their dreams. Wish they'd just fucking get on with it.

Don't think it is over yet this. Hiddink considering retirement. Their owners want a high profile boss but seems they aren't finding it easy to get one. Where is Lennon on the list? Longer it goes on the more I think he could end up there by default,

They'll appoint Sven before they appoint Lennon!

Thai owners want to grow their 'brand', they'll do that with a world known name, not an ex player managing in the champ.

Chill out

They have a panel of 5 appointing a manager. 2 on that panel have Lennon as first choice. Not the owners admittedly but if the owners can't land their 'big names' then what?
