August 11, 201511 yr Are goalposts even made of wood? Technically they still can be: "The goalposts and crossbar must be made of wood, metal or other approved material. They must be square, rectangular, round or elliptical in shape and must not be dangerous to players." I believe they also have to be, at most, 5 inches in diameter. August 11, 201511 yr Burton should have never got that cross away, the new lad at right back was too busy appealing the hand ball instead of closing his man down! The ball was there to be won! Shame because we looked so comfortable beforehand. No need to worry, in Lennon we trust.
August 11, 201511 yr Says Prince has a groin strain or he would have played We deffo need a finisher , Madine isn't it.....Danns irritates the fuck out our me the way he dilly dallies on the ball and gets caught in possession time and time again
August 12, 201511 yr On another night we would have on easily. Dann's was terrible, hardly found a Bolton player all night.
August 12, 201511 yr Says Prince has a groin strain or he would have played Did he do it getting out of his Ferrari?
August 12, 201511 yr How the hell did Madine miss that header, didn't realise last night just how easy a chance it was.
August 12, 201511 yr No use saying this but if we ever had investment i'd break the bank to sign Blair Spittal first, the 19 year old baby face striker of Dundee Utd who bagged a pair in the Dundee derby last night. A young Andy Walker if ever I saw one. His finishes are worth a look. Great game btw entertaining but frenetic.

Not seen him play but the previous young striker at Dundee United with a big reputation, David Goodwillie (yes really), did bugger all when he came south.

Whatever the framework is made of, it has never saved a goal, or denied a team a goal. It's inanimate. Unlike most goalkeepers, it doesn't move. I wish commentators would find some other sloppy phrase to over-use.

I wish commentators would find some other sloppy phrase to over-use. Considering the inside dimensions of the goal are the ones that count, the size width etc makes no difference. Therefore, as far as the rules are concerned, hitting the posts or the crossbar is a miss. Although it can look brilliant if you hit them hard enough!
August 12, 201511 yr Just seen it for the first time. Fuck me, that was easier to score than miss. Dreadful I kept replaying the same few seconds over and over to try and give him the benefit of the doubt... Perhaps the ball was a smidge too high for him, maybe he lost it in the floodlights etc. Nah, it was just a terrible miss.
August 12, 201511 yr How the hell did Madine miss that header, didn't realise last night just how easy a chance it was. Yet according to some on here, watching it live at the stadium offers a far superior view of what is going on in a game... Edited August 12, 201511 yr by SnoopJohnnyJohn

August 14, 201511 yr This cup is getting worse. Dreadful attendances and more and more teams making wholesale team changes. Then the way the second round draw was crazy, with some teams already chosen to be home and away. As for some of the fixtures - how many are Bournemouth going to take to Hartlepool midweek ? Let alone Exeter to Sunderland, Ipswich to Doncaster, York to Swansea, Carlisle to QPR and Northampton to Newcastle. Crazy.
