With his track record he shouldn't really be offering business advice. He should stick to on the on the pitch matters

While ED is still the owner is it not his job to sort out any outstanding tax.

Exactly, stop the hysteria! There are interested parties, but not the preference.

The man in charge has been in worse positions for sure.

I've had a few sympathetic words with a few Blackpool lot. One saying 'now you know how we feel'

Trouble is they are in miles better position than us. Bonkers, corrupt chairmen aside they don't owe a penny to anyone.

When I heard that I did wonder how he'd know how long it went on for behind the scenes.

They did discuss it like it was a decision of which sliced loaf to buy from Asda. Rather than the sale of a large and complex business.

This sounds daft, but I think it changed just because it was unfair, so HMRC are now just another debtor, employees come first, which in most companies seems fair but it winds people up when millionaire footballers get paid before the bloke who did a job at the club.

I think I've said it before, even if HMRC try to push for an administrator to come in and start selling assets I'm sure they need to have a fairly substancial percentage of the overall debt owed to them

Thus the paper debt of £170m owed to ED should keep him in the driving seat on which assets are sold off, when they are sold and who too

Interesting

I might ignore that letter I got off them last week then

HMRC will only push for admin as a last resort as they will only get a percentage then.

The normal procedure is to agree a payment schedule to clear any backlog with them based on an orderly disposal of assets.

VAT arrears are more critical than PAYE arrears in my experience.

I am hearing that ED prepared to accept 3million so it doesnt go into administration.

"We can confirm we have 2 main interested parties, both from dubai. There is a bidding war going on as we speak. What I can confirm is, there will be a huge war chest as both parties are determined to turn bolton wanderers into a European power house. Also all fans that attended last nights match please keep your stubs as you will be given priority for Bolton's first champions league final in a couple of seasons time.

Also medo has decided to cancel his contract after not being paid. So that's a bonus. "

Advisor to board and owner provides an update on the ongoing situation at Bolton Wanderers

Trevor Birch has today, Tuesday 1 December, issued the following update on the current situation at Bolton Wanderers Football Club.

“We spoke to the players today and they remain upbeat and committed to doing all they can to help the club through this difficult time.

“We’re continuing to negotiate with interested parties but unfortunately no one party has demonstrated all the requisite elements needed to conclude a deal yet. The club’s position is increasingly perilous and new investment is needed quickly.

“We’d like to thank the fans for their continued support and all of the behind-the-scenes staff for their continued hard work in difficult circumstances.”

Would we have had these kind of updates if Gartside was in charge still?

Anyway seems we're far off new owners.

Thought the same

We've heard more off Birch in 2 weeks then we have ever heard off gartcrime

We've gone from Iles saying a deal could be done by the end of the week to what sounds like we're nowhere near.

Worrying.

I wonder what constitutes the requisite elements that they deem required

Some money would be the requisites.

Some money would be the requisites.

It certainly seems as though we're a long way from any deal being done, which I know is what most of us believed anyway, but it's still grim
