Wanderers 2 Rotherham 1

6-0 for them.

Ronnie Moore and Clive Mendonca both bag a hat trick.

Emlyn Hughes is dug up, plays at centre half and keeps Madine in his pocket for ninety minutes.

Clough back in alongside Woolery for me   I'd happily fuck Mark Davies off for this, I think he offers nothing. He was hiding behind Leeds players last week ffs

not watched highlights yet do they show the attempted decapitation of Wellyphant?

Just watching the highlights and froze the picture when Heskey strikes the ball, Wellington was onside

I did the same. You must have a better telly than me because he was offside on mine.

Watchi again and tell us exactly what you expect Holding to have done there?

He was too square on to his man which meant he couldn't turn and react. He should have tracked his man into the box instead of being sucked towards the ball once it had been knocked past him. If he had - he might have been in a better position to attempt to block the cross or get in the way of the shot.

I'm not trying to jump on the kids back mind - he's young and he's learning and as you rightly say - our midfield didn't do him any favours. If you look back at what I posted yesterday - you'll notice I put him down as one of our better players, although I still think he'll be disappointed with the way he defended for their goal.

Iles has just posted his ratings from yesterday's game holding 5.5 Dervite 6.5 spearing 6 davies 6.5.

I'll have some of what he's on.

Was that when he nearly rolled to Blackrod?

I think you're being a little harsh

He was a little square as you say but I thought he recovered quite well

His position when the 9 had it was understandable though I think. The 9 looked like he had the beating of Dervite and Holding could cover him going on / shooting across goal or putting the ball to "Holding's man"

Admittedly it then sucks Moxey in leaving the man behind free, but the ball back was unlikely and I reckon he didn't mean it to go to the man who scored.

In the end Holding's position didn't help but I reckon 9 times out of 10 it does

I actually thought Holding's worst moment (square and flat footed again) was for the Amos save to be honest

The promising about Holding is that he is starting to carry the ball out of defence, with most teams playing 1 up front we can end up with 4 marking one but over run elsewhere. Carrying the ball opens up the pitch, he has to be careful about giving it away but looks very promising.

Heskey should be kept on the bench at best for the rest of the season at least Madine holds it up & feeds Feeney who was starved of the ball for most of the first half

Pratley was desperately poor hate his crab impression when he tries to shield the ball cos he's not quick enough.Trotter is the only player capable of a creative pass at the moment & he gets dropped.

Think with a different manager in charge we might have a chance of staying up although that scenario is realistically unlikely to happen. Playing two wingers at Brighton will be suicide but heyho we seem to be getting a bit of luck at last.

possibly the most reckless pieces of play i've seen how it wasn't red i've no idea.

Studs up into Welly's throat

I disagree about Brighton.

Spearing and Trotter in front of a back 4.

Pratley getting up and down with 2 wide players and Madine up front is solid enough. We have to be pragmatic go for a solid set up that is hard to play against is the starter. We have to sacrifice something and for me that is Mavies, the 2 wide players need to track back and I think are more likely to than Mavies.

With the sub yesterday, I can get why he wanted pace up front but I do not see that is best supported by asking Mavies to play wide right.

Fair enough - it's easy to be over critical after the event I suppose. In regards to their goal - I think that had that pitch been playing normally and not so boggy - Moxey would have made an interception on the cross.

I thought we were doomed when Wheater got injured but it's testament to Holding that we've not really missed him. Let's just hope he keeps developing and judge him properly after 100 games.

Shocking foul. Definite red card imo.

Indeed

Coming in as centre half for a team that concedes for fun and is bottom of the league can't be easy

He's doing very well for me, but he ain't perfect

Remember when we used to celebrate a win and not pick over every move to find out which of our players is the shittest?

no cheese, I don't think that's ever happened :D

Cracking win, not celebrated like that for a while.

What the fucks up with Moxey at the moment? He's limped about the pitch for the last three games...playing with an injury maybe?

We're having a perfectly civil discussion about our defending on the goal we conceded. Nobody is slagging anybody off.
