I was having a good chat with my next door neighbour last week, he's a Wigan season ticket holder, he said to me that Jussi has been one of their best players this season. Just typical!

If you scroll back through the WW's archive you'll find plenty on here having a pop at him during his last couple of seasons with us.  Football is full of what if's and maybes.  Time to look forward I reckon!

Unfortunately not signing Jussi as he was seen as an "Allardyce player" seems to be another example of Phil Gartside's ego clouding his judgement.

Legend but at 40 plus no thanks. Have him on the coaching staff though. What is very strange is every player who was a SA man seems to have been alienated by the club after Sam left I just don't understand how and what the fuck happened at our club.

I'm still looking for the bit where Jussi says Gartside didn't want him.

I also see the bit where Jussis kids are at our club. Hardly alienated is it?

 

Maybe, just maybe, the club (Lennon/Gartside/Davies) thought it would be better to bring in a keeper with a (hopeful) resale value. With hindsight, the wrong decision, but an understandable one.

Our management did not even explore the idea that's why. Another piece of shite decision making. Jussi would have jumped at the chance of coming back here!

 

What people on a fans forum think is irrelevant. The wages saved could have gone towards a goal scorer.

Jussi wasnt great during his last couple of seasons here and wanted a better contract than was on offer so he left. Sad at the time but justifyable.

 

Seems to have had a new lease of life down the road - past his sell by date now but still performed better than  "can we have a bell in the ball please" Amos.

 

Cannot imagine he will be back as a player but very possibly down the line as Goalkeeping coach.
