Its nearly 10 years since SA left, how many players from that era are expected to still be here ? Jussi stayed here 5 years after SA left, which included at least one new contract signing. He left w

Read the article in yesterday's Evening News, that will explain it to you.   Again, he wanted to come back last summer but Gartside didn't want to sign him because of his association with Allardyce.

  • Fuck me, I really don’t know why I look at the Bolton News comments section. Some guy on Jussi’s retirement article:-   One of his lasting memories being an incident eleven years before he left us.

Having rewatched em

Kevin Davies not bothering following in on the first

Quinton fortune not bothering on the second

Kevin Nolan steaming in as if his life depended on it.

And then got sent off

There was a amazing double save against Arsenal at the Reebok, can't recall the year.

Jussi tipped the ball onto the post from a Henry shot from the edge of the box and then got up and smothered a shot from an almost certain goal on the rebound.

Top, top keeper and a modern day BWFC legend.

Certainly one of the best along with Hoppy Seamus & Branagan not easy to compare eras but folk used to moan that Hopkinson was too short!

I loved Seamus and thought he was the best but Jussi turned out to be much better after a shaky start. That many games makes him a club legend

Over-rated.

You do seem to be in a minority with that statement

thats his intention, silly

hes forgotten his password for tonycee

Saw Jussi make his debut for the reserves against Port Vale at Leigh. Lost 3-1 (Simon Coleman scored) and Jussi let two through his legs in the first 10 minutes and looked utterly hopeless. Thought that would be the last we saw of him. National press covered the game as Peter Beardsley played that night after Colin Todd had dropped him, and it happened to be on the same night that Newcastle played Barcelona away in the Champions League so they made a big thing of it.

Pretty sure I mention this on here every time Jussi gets mentioned, but I’ve written it now.

Likewise (with my dad though obviously). Saw him a few times for the reserves that season and thought he was terrible.

IIRC he started off in goal at the beginning of 98/99 as Branagan was injured. Having seen him for the reserves I was dreading us leaking a load of goals.

Incredible how much better he got.

Household name players you forgot ever played for us... Peter Beardsley

He was as old as time when he rocked up to the reebok.
