  • Ah, those lads who wanted their country back , upset by foreigners who came over on boats pinching  all the houses and land and changing the native culture and not assimilating into it.  thought you

  • Benedict Cumberbatch played Alan Turing in The Imitation Game, he's not even a proper bummer.

  • Not quite a show… but the missus has fallen asleep mid program; I do it all the time, just watch on… she doesn’t agree. She’s now fallen asleep 3 times during last 10 mins of episode of Outlaws.

Just finished series 3 of The Wire. Can't believe it's taken me so long to watch it. It's stunning.

Series 2 of Dead To Me is out on Friday if you want to binge watch the first one on Netflix, was a decent enough watch and I really fancied the bird who wasn't Al Bundy's daughter.

Take it as read that I did also fancy the bird who was Al Bundy's daughter though.

married with children is classic.

the one where hes trying to find "go with him" on 7inch vinyl is amazing

I'm jealous. Wish I could unwatch it somehow so I could watch it all again for the first time. Same applies to Breaking Bad.

Not sure if it has been mentioned on here before and I can't be arsed trekking back through, but I had the misfortune to see Sky's new "comedy" Code 404.

Jesus Christ, utter fucking horseshit.

Im chucking shield in..AGAIN

Just in case anybody hasnt seen it

Best of the lot

For now, im well into gangs of london

I’m 4 series through shield. It’s definitely up there with the best

MrsD and I finished Gangs of London in two days. She watched most through fingers.

Wire, Breaking Bad, Shield... all fantastic

Gangs next for me.

When was the last time a new "comedy" was actually funny?

Kids must think of me watching Phoenix Nights, The Office etc, as I used to think of old timers watching Dad's Army, George & Mildred, etc.

Can't remember tbh.

Just watched the 1st 4 episodes of After Life. Fucking hell that is good telly.

Season 2 of Ozark finished, looks like Wendy is thriving as a mobster.

Third series is the best yet.

If it carries on progressing as it has it'll be up there with the best.

Wait till you watch season 3, you don’t fuck with Wendy.

I might have to watch The Shield 🤔

Do it. It's very good.

When The Soprano's and The Wire etc were being hailed as the 'Golden Age of TV' there would sometimes be an almost embarrassed 'see also' reference to it by  tv critics. A cop show on a less favoured channel wasn't supposed to be in the running for end of year greatness but it was consistently excellent.

I think it drops at times in a very long run. Some seasons better than others as happens. The core actors though are strong and they keep it compelling, Michael Chiklis and Walton Goggins in particular, but there's also some very good support.

I was watching Goggins in Justified the other day. He's good as ever but that show, whilst enjoyable, is a cartoon in comparison to The Shield.

Goggins is excellent in The Hateful Eight, and he has a cracking pair of tits in Sons Of Anarchy

Just seen a couple of seasons of SOA and don't recall seeing him so that's something to look forward to.  You can pencil him in as the replacement for Michelle Keegan in the peacemaker role. Although pending confirmation my vote would still edge towards Leanne Decker.

He's a really good actor. Guaranteed to steal scenes whatever he's in.  Currently watching Justified, which, a few seasons in,  is something of a guilty pleasure. As Boyd Crowther he can sell just about any scene however daft.

Thinking about The Shield, CCH Pounder was also brilliant. Glenn Close did a season in that as well. If there wasn't so much new stuff I want to watch I'd be tempted to dig it out.

I say seasons, of course I mean series. Damn this creeping Americanisation...

re: chicklis , theres a previous series where he plays a policeman and the whole series (about 100 episodes) were on youtube in the past.

Dont think it were on tv over here (not even sky one or owt). remember his wife in it dying in real life a few years back . (she were in raging bull) .

around after hill street blues finished but before nypd blue.. thought it were by the same team, but its by the A-Team , Knight Rider dude   ...

The Commish

the only reason i mention it is because i were listening to an old hip hop record on youtube that were the theme to another Police TV show (tribeca , kinda by robert deniro , bizarrely)  and it popped up in the recommended.

Hill st blues

Bit before my time but dad loved that

Wonder if that could be shown again

anybody watch homicide life on the streets? by the same bloke who went on to write the wire? got it on dvd and never watched it yet. also bought "the corner ' on strength of the wire (early HBO series only a few episodes) but not watched it yet.

RE: casinos post

its on the full version of All4 (ie not the sky cut down version of All4)  , they used to show it on actual tv at 3am pretty recently (within the last five to ten year) . i nighthawked it back then, kinda holds up

https://www.channel4.com/programmes/hill-street-blues

along with the shield (which iirc was on channel 5 originally)..

RE : snowball's post

homicide life on the streets used to be on channel 4. says Freemantle own the rights to it so god knows where you'd stream that now, but the dvds pop up on ebay or amazon.

:-

i think its hard work watching tv now imo , Only police show i rated or watched recently were "Longmire" and netflix had to buy that so it could finish its run.

before that maybe "southland" with the guy with the mole from band of brothers.. i think that changed channels so it could finish (from normal to cable) too.
