bolty58 Posted December 5, 2025 Posted December 5, 2025 Anyone mentioned The Last Frontier? If so, apologies. 7/10. We became hooked as soon as we heard the opening credits Quote

How on earth do you ever manage to live with that? Quote

One of the best ones yet. It’s a brilliant series. How do those solicitors sleep defending folk, especially folk like that who are clearly guilty. (£) Edited December 10, 2025 by royal white Quote

(£) Know someone who is a solicitor and does a lot of cases for folk who are in court for driving offences 99% of the time they plead guilty but he is still needed as courts take a dim view of you if you're not represented, same if you turn up in jeans and a tshirt rather than a suit He used to do legal aid stuff and if you're down as a solicitor who does that you couldn't turn it down if someone needed you Again most of the time he wasn't there to defend them as such, just to get a best sentence for them and to make sure it was a fair trial Quote
Alf Hartigan Posted December 10, 2025 Posted December 10, 2025 I once spoke to Nick Freeman, known as the ‘loophole’ lawyer. He was the one who got Alex Ferguson off his speeding offence by saying he needed a poo. My mate hired him to get off a drink driving charge and succeeded. They were both guilty and he fully knew it. Charged a fucking fortune though. Think I’d have taken the punishment 😃 Quote

Anyway how is all this to do with TV shows 🤔 Quote

He was drink driving but it wasn’t a simple case of supplying a breath test at the roadside. I’d go into more details but I can’t be arsed with writing a long post. Fuck knows how he managed to get Ferguson off with his excuse 🤷 Quote

Signed up for another 7 day trial and watched the last 2 episodes out of sheer curiosity. Bit less shite, but I won't be paying to watch Series 2. Edit: Just had a look and there's actually 9 episodes, not 6, so I will probably watch the last 3 with another 7 day trial over Christmas. Edited December 10, 2025 by Cheese Quote

bolty58 Posted December 12, 2025 Posted December 12, 2025 1% Club a couple of nights back. The woman with the story from a weightlifting competition. Raised a smile. For those who missed it, bloke running round organising events on stage. "Right girls, when the men have finished jerking, warm up your snatches". If true, up there with 'the batsman's Holding the bowler's Willey'. Quote

Cheese Posted December 18, 2025 Posted December 18, 2025 (edited) 'The War Between the Land and the Sea' on iPlayer is fucking dreadful. Only started watching it because it's been stuck on the landing page all week. Proper tacky shite with terrible dialogue, terrible effects, and abysmal acting. Didn't realise it was a Doctor Who spin-off until half way through episode 1, then it all made sense. Dog dirt. Edited December 18, 2025 by Cheese Quote
bolty58 Posted December 18, 2025 Posted December 18, 2025 Somehow stumbled on to Absentia. Not bad. Quote
