Some shocking and surprising news clips from the archives. That the Adam Curtis thing? I watched that a bit back, enjoyed it - if that's the right word! Have you seen Trauma Zone? Pretty much the same thing but about Russia, bloody bleak that.
February 24Feb 24 Watched Small Prophets last night, all six episodes. It's got a Detectorists feel about it and it's just as good in my opinion. Roll on Series 2. There's some good performances in it but Michael Palin's character is the best.

First series is excellent Second series is a mash up of the second and third books it's based on and goes all a bit weird It'll test your patience but see it through

They nailed Susan Davey though but missed in the end summary that she walked at Xmas edit for clarity. One , there aren’t more spills now than in 89, More are reported as there are tens of thousands of sensors connected to live data reporting them. EDM’s described in the show. SWW has over two thousand covering 600 treatment works, 800 pumping stations and CSOs. Two. Every treatment works has two permits . One for the florets it has to fully treat to specific quality targets . This flow is normally 3 times dry weather flow so accounts for some rain. Second permit is for storm storage giving daily accurate flow that the site must take before it can legally overflow to the environment, normally equivalent to 6 x dry weather flow. They do not have to treat all rainwater which there is a bloody lot of. They kept showing Trevaunance Cove discharge. That was proven to be run off from fields. If it’s that brown ain’t sewage. Dont get me wrong, the privatisation was Maggies coup de grace in her sell off of National assets partly driven by knowing how much investment was needed and should be reversed and the castration of EA was a joke but the new cash from water companies is redirected towards flood defence work. February 26Feb 26 Well basically given the lovely shots of Whitstable and Herne Bay, I might buy a paddling pool this summer.

Second is different but if you were not sure about first doubt you will think much of 2 and 3.

We also did it in 2 sittings. Very Detectorists and very good. All very understated but for some reason you really want a good outcome for the main characters.
March 2Mar 2 Watched the Tony Blair documentary on C4 over a few nights last week, well put together and, as things have turned out in recent days, topical
March 7Mar 7 The Stolen Child on ITV. We binge watched 4 episodes last night and will finish it tonight.
March 8Mar 8 Very disappointed that for the last 2 weeks we haven't seen Diamond on any of the events on gladiators, but on a brighter note it has made me appreciate just how tidy Comet is. Dirty old man? Yeah soz🤷

March 8Mar 8 One for the older amongst us The Sweeney on ITVX Superb TV. 70s hammy acting but hasn’t aged too badly Some right old faces on there And the cars…….Granadas, Cortinas, Jags. Proper dream tackle for a teenager at the time
