  • Benedict Cumberbatch played Alan Turing in The Imitation Game, he's not even a proper bummer.

  • Not quite a show… but the missus has fallen asleep mid program; I do it all the time, just watch on… she doesn’t agree. She’s now fallen asleep 3 times during last 10 mins of episode of Outlaws.

Yeah I'd read that. Also the creator/writer was previously mainly known for writing some of The Hangover and Scary Movie films!

Just started The Virtues. Stephen Graham doing the best "messy night out" scene of all time.

I thought first ep of Chernobyl was tough going but it's got me now

Black Monday is a good watch for anyone who loves 80’s greed.

Agreed, the level of cringe at one point was too close to the bone!

I've tapped out of watching it now though can't be arsed.

Final Chernobyl tonight, I binged on the podcasts over weekend and definitely recommend them.

Just watched the last Chernobyl

Just. Fucking hell

Yeah same, that's a sit down quiet and think for a while ending.

Worth a watch?

Excellent programme - the book Chernobyl - History of a Tragedy is worth a read.

I'd say so. If you liked the style of This Is England, you'll probably like The Virtues. The final episode is tomorrow night, so I don't know how the story pans out. It might be a massive let down.

Well don’t spoil it!

But for the bravery/lunacy of those clean up guys we’d all have cancer of everything and be breeding kids with 7 legs.

terrifying.

Tell you what though, I've given up smoking for nearly three years, never really missed it but that programme had me gasping. Those Ruskies sure enjoyed a ciggie.

It was yes, and knowing tens, hundreds of thousands of them were conscripts too.

and the very end point

that the death toll is still only down as 31

crazy

Well worth it.

I thought that at first too. I'm told there's a podcast running alongside each episode with the makers of the show, the accents thing was brought up and they basically said when they tried to do Russian accents during screen tests it sounded like they were taking the piss so just left it.

Did take a while to get used to, those miners cracked me up at first, but doesn't bother me now.

I’ve done my usual. Waited til near the end of the series and then downloaded so that I can watch as and when

Fucking hell this is brilliant. I’m watching each episode then listening to the Chernobyl podcast with the bloke who made it, before moving on to the next episode

Superb TV. I would definitely recommend listening to each episode’s podcast before watching the next one

Chernobyl and The Virtues in the same week - I needed a dose of Love Island to stop my slashing me wrists.

Stephen Graham's sister plays a brilliant part in The Virtues. That scene on the sofa was superb when she was handing out the bollocking to them both - some of the funniest TV I've seen in a long-time.

Watched 2-3 documentaries about Chernobyl since the series - interesting stuff. Including folk who go there nowadays on day trips. Unfortunately the reactor is covered up now and not visible to tourists..... fortunately its stopping more radiation that necessary pumping out. Also watched a doc on them covering it up (only 6 mins long on YouTube) - the cover is taller than the Eiffel Tower. Its an amazing piece of engineering - and yet I don't recall seeing this on the news. Thought it would be a major event.

I'm going to Chernobyl in late July.

Booked it all well before this series came out, mind.
