Supposedly agreed a fee for this Swede according to the Swedish Journo who broke the story.

I'd rather sign his agent

900k for Schon ffs !

Since promotion from league 2, and FV getting further investment from the Swiss, I think we've had a fair chunk to spend.

Not massive, and they won't spend what we can't afford to miss, but far better now than when we were on our way down.

Not blaming them at all, but realistically our league position has been below where a club of our resource and stature should have been for 10 years now, and thats because of decisions made at board level ages ago. I mentioned on another thread here, current england and man city u18 vice captain and city and England u19 centre back, both locals, left our academy at age 9 directly because of finances that degraded the academy. At worst we'd have sold them a few yrs later for a few £, if not kept them on and they'd be breaking into the first team now. And that happened because of poor decisions. Takes a while to recover, but I can see its drastically improved over last few years at the academy level.

I don't think there's a reliable source for that figure

I suppose Schon should be judged on the quality of his crossing when he has a centre forward to aim at. Love the comments on past wingers, add Willy Morgan to that list. Also on the other side to Diddsy was Paddy, he didn't beat a man often, but worked hard and had a cracking left peg on him, also at the time none of this inverted shite.

Was there a reliable source for a figure of £1.2m for Randall and £1m for McAtee? All these deals are undisclosed but we clearly spent big money so why question the figure for Schon any more than the others? I personally don’t think any of them are worth these amounts if they’re anywhere near correct. The fact is we spent money badly and you can include Dan, Lolos, Tutu and Victor based on what they’ve delivered so far. Thank goodness we’ve now binned Evatt and Markham.

Would be very surprised if Schon and Desmond are still here come August

He needs to be able to beat a man on occasion and be able to consistently put good balls in to the box. There's no point signing Dalby if we aren't going to provide the service he needs. He doesn't need to be a world beater but he needs to be able to do these things in order to be playing regularly. He hasn't IMO shown that he has what it takes to be up to standard.

I also think this applies to Desmond. He is good at beating a man but he hasn't proven he can consistently get good balls in the box.

IMO we need at the very least another winger but I would like two more.

Schon is tenacious and Tutu is quick, but both are poor at decision making and crossing.
Admittedly they've both been played out of position so far, Schon needs to play on the left and Tutu on the right, but they need to do more than last season.

If we're close to signing Ceesay, it's looking likely that it will be him and Simmons in the middle of our midfield, not sure where Sheehan, Thomason and Morley are going to slot in.

Agree one of the three will go. Although Thomason could be a good shout for playing on the left.

I think Iles made reference to the fees for Randall and McAtee, which is not a guarantee but it's not nothing

Posh weren't exactly shy on expressing their valuation of Randall either

Sheehan might be pushed up to 10

Dempsey doesn't even deserve dismissing then ?

Ceesay might be left back in a 4-3-3

Ceesay's brief highlights video suggests he might be more of attacking midfielder than we've been led to believe

At a reported 6’ 4” I’d say he can play where he wants! 😁

I disagree lusty. When you look into other teams fan sites at this level, as you do more than most I think, they almost all consider us to be one of the big fish so I sometimes don’t think we give ourselves enough credit. Obviously we’re no mega club but we are still an attractive proposition. None of our local Championship rivals get the gates we do or the number of season ticket holders despite being higher up which is why it’s essential that we do whatever we need to do to get us out of here and back at the minimum level a club of our standing deserves. It’s as if some of our fans feel embarrassed to admit we are a sizeable club.

I think that if past glories counted for anything you’d have a point, but we were cut down to size by the Anderson fiasco and since then we have been a well supported survivor with ambition beyond our finances. We/our owners are not big fish in the scheme of things and we have to accept the situation.

To my knowledge, we have not turned a trading profit since we were saved so any progress up the leagues will be well and truly earned and anyone who thinks we can buy our way up is delusional especially since near liquidation made sustainability the keyword.

All we can do is hope that the players that we can afford to sign can be moulded into a team that drags us into the Championship by any means possible - and maybe that will attract new inward investment.

Football fans - me included - love the history, but history means nowt for this season - and I suspect it means even less to potential signings who have no connection to BWFC.

So getting a couple of homegrown lads through each year to play in the 1st team and ultimately sell on should be a major aim. What our stature / history does provide is a more attractive proposition for youngsters to join than a promtion rival like plymouth or stockport.

For 40 games a season, no.

Won't see the best of Schon and Tutu's crossing ability if they're mostly being played on their weak side.

Absolutely.

It wasn't just Evatt that did that neither.

We'll see what the plans are soon enough.

As for the Swede; if the stories are true, then SS et al may be taking a dim view of signing a player with an agitator for an agent. No reason he wouldn't do the same to us at some later point.
