If he wants to be part of us 'kicking on' he needs results quickly. And I'm sure he knows that. He certainly doesn't have the luxury of worrying about a three year plan unless it involves us getting out of L1 very soon. Why??? Last eleven games he had 7/8 out every game and had to play kids.....Baxter and Santos played a couple of games knowing they were off come May I think he has got the backing of the board to rebuild and it all will not all be done this summer.

It's just a crying shame that they didn't pull the plug much earlier. If he'd had 3/4 games going into January then who know how it would've panned out. Absolute waste of a season last year and most likely be another one this year whilst he's (rightly) given time to build a squad and team capable of making a challenge. If we somehow pull off promotion this year, then that has to go down as an exceptional achievement given the state of the squad.
June 30, 20251 yr Swedish lad not included in tonight's matchday squad apparently . Anyone got eyes on middlebrook burger king ?

Which 7/8 players were out for the last eleven games? That's just not true. In any case, no point going back over last season. Reality is, no manager anywhere in football comes into a job with two/three years to build a side. And if we start badly again this season then SS's record overall will look abysmal and people will start asking why he's the right man to take us forward. With good reason. Besides, the club is still one of the biggest and highest spending teams in the division. There is absolutely no reason it should take three years to build a side capable of getting promoted.
June 30, 20251 yr Another big lad to compete with Dalby is a must, as are 2 fullbacks. Without that anything else will be wasted.

When you've got contracted players on a very good wedge and a new manager who them players don't fit, your hands are tied quite a bit.Its ok saying one of the highest spending but a lot of money is already tied up on them players.Im sure if SS could get rid of most he would but not many other teams are going to match there wages hence why we are stuck with the shit bastard's

I can see a Cameron Jerome esq signing for another big lad on the bench. Some one with experience. We were linked with Steven fletcher at one point. Something along those lines. Free transfer, experience etc. Edited June 30, 20251 yr by Arrested development

I know he was a great bloke, king of banter, coach to the stars etc but he wasn’t a good player. Fletcher would be grim also.
June 30, 20251 yr Get Jatta signed 6’ 4” he’d do well alongside Sam and surely we have a good left winger in Schon so why not use him to supply the ammunition, he must be better than he’s showed so far and not afraid of a tackle or two either.
June 30, 20251 yr My concern is we’re lacking options out wide and up top. Plenty time yet but a couple injuries which we always seem plagued by and we’ve got nothing to replace the starting 11. Even if we need to change the game

Jones, Dempsey, Morley, Matete and Sheehan all played at Barnsley. There were only four games after that and we'd already lost five from seven. Victor never played a minute under SS, so how he was a key man I have no idea. 7/8 missing for the last 11 games isn't true. We were well on the slide before lads started phoning in sick. You said you didn't think SS was building a team for this season, that it might be a two/three year plan. Fact is, if the team he's building isn't good this season he won't need to worry about anything beyond it.
June 30, 20251 yr Interesting to contrast our transfer strategy with our three nearest and dearest neighbours. We are out there clearly trying to sign players whose age is such that their value has a chance of rising in coming years. The closest to us just now seems to be Stockport. However they have only made two such signings and lost quite a few of their main squad from last season. So they are wheeling and dealing like us with some action undoubtedly still to come Blackpool meanwhile are right in at the experienced end of the market signing five players in their later 20s/early 30s, all bar one of whom have been on free transfers. They may well prove solid stuff for next season including a centre half from Stockport as per above. Meanwhile the pie pests have signed three strikers who do not have any record of goalscoring at League 1 level - not even Mullin who they have on loan. In terms of immediate impact/solidity for next year you might be happiest so far if you're Blackpool. But signing a bunch of experienced free transfers (Ennis excepted, he cost a fee) is something that rarely works out how you think it will.

There's not enough goals there.

Totally respect that way of thinking but I disagree. Charlton finished 16th the season before last. Derby finished outside the playoffs the season before beating us to autos. Leyton Orient & Wycombe I think finished 11th and 10th respectively the season before last, both finished last season in the top 6, both much smaller clubs than ourselves. We finished 8th (and that’s with no proper striker for what seemed like half a season and a historically poor season defensively) so for me playoffs is the absolute minimum I expect this season. Anything less than 6th would be a really poor showing from everyone involved in my opinion.

Hope you’re right. i think half the trouble is the lack of footie for such a long time, everyone starts getting more impatient. Feel free to quote this same time next year if we finish 12th 😁

Agree on this you only have to look at Rotherham to know it does not always pay off......Happy so far with our signings but i would like us to get someone like Jatta [right age and proven goal scorer] to help Dalby All signings up to now are players who have not peaked and i think we may get good money in a year or two with a couple of them. As yet i am not convinced we have a squad that will go up, but i can see this squad certainly evolving Was against losing Collins, but we move on and if we can get a little pace added with the lads from Salford and Celtic Bring in this Swedish lad at left back and add a goa lscorer i will certainly be more than happy

Looks like a deal may be fone for him so we’ll wait and see. Another 6 footer though so the giants are continuing to gather.
