And I might as well be greedy and say another left back and a designated DMC .

FFS. This isn't Behind The Stands. Most folk come on here to read bullshit rumours and conjecture, with the odd bit of accurate stuff thrown in. It's boring as fuck reading your personal squabbles.

We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

Kenny AND Dean? Not sure you will get your wish somehow.

Kenny or Dean needed now.....Both if possible and we can look to mid table come next May. We have spent roughly 3 to 4m up to now and maybe the same again if we bring in two forwards

That is great business in any ones books when you see the standard of player brought in

Not a one from the awful league one from last season

It’s exciting that’s for sure.

And we’ve done it without spunking the millions that others seem to have spent in this league.

Long way to go yet before determining where it ranks us.

I’d still snatch your hand of for 21st.

Which would painfully still mean some poor games, some poor performances, some questioning about players/recruitment (because that’s what happens when we don’t win)

It probably won’t click for all 12 new signings, something else we’ll need to be realistic about.

A harsh two paragraphs from me on a positive day! But will probably be the reality we should prepare for IMO.

Very happy though at this point with FVs pragmatic progression, 6 years on from their takeover 👏

Me neither but in that case Ill settle for one and a season long loan with ACD .

Can't see ACD coming any more.

Gale, Dong, Illing Jnr, la Raza, and Nelson will be our wide players.

I’ve got a feeling it could be a loanee(s) we’ve not been linked with yet.

Would love either/or/both of Kenny & Dean, but I think there’s a lot of reasonable doubt about both of those now, I referenced some of this earlier re Dean.

For a lot of fans they’ve become completely fixated with both of them. I reckon we could have half a dozen other names shortlisted.

Exciting again, as we are sure to sign at least one forward before Tuesday.

Obviously have never seen him kick a ball, but central midfield has always been a need. EE has started well, but neither he nor Simons could hold down a place when we were in L1.

I think EE has hampered by injuries last time.

I don't see him necessarily being relegated by this new chap.

Especially if we're sticking to wingers.

It's clear that on occasions, the two man midfield (especially the one we have used so far) may be inadequate in some games.

For me, we are creating a squad that can be more effective with our usual formation, and also be effective with five at the back.

Time will tell.

I'd be somewhat disappointed to finish as low as 21st, with all the signings we've made.

It would suggest that they haven't improved us massively.

I'm quietly confident that better things are being looked at by the club's hierarchy.

I’m sure they are.

And so they should.

I just think lower, more realistic, expectations as fans, would help temper the meltdowns, when we lose, or one of these new signings have a poor game.

We’ve already started to hear it about Dong, Hardie and one or two others not being the right signings.

I don’t care, if as a fan, I’m supporting Bolton in the Championship again next season I’ll be very happy, even if that outlook seems unambitious.

I would argue it’s realistic when you look at our current position, how other teams are set and being new in this division.

I have to disagree, our first 11 and squad last season (less the loanees gone back of course) would be rock bottom imo this season.

We have made some real improvements in personnel and had a great start but I still think we face some tricky periods and I would be very happy with safety with a few games to spare.

I think it’s inevitable that some of the signings just won’t fit or work out.. here’s hoping we’re keeping a few bob back to make a couple of adjustments in January 🤞

It might well have been.

Nevertheless, 21st wouldn't represent much of an improvement on that.

If staying up is all that matters, then maybe it's worth the investment, but I'm not convinced we would attract players with that philosophy. We had a bit of a discussion about this previously: as a club we cannot go into the season with a mentality that losing games is absolutely fine as long as we get 21st. A dangerously game to play.

I think that they're aiming higher.

He likes an arm-chair tackle!

Some good positioning, and all round prowess.

only a brief video, but his movement and presence reminds me of Gary Speed.

Quality may not be as high, but just reminds me of him.

Momentum helps if these signings bed in and we get 1 or 2 strikers in we should be aiming for 8th…. Tough ask but anywhere near in January and throw the kitchen sink at the January window.

Once again I'd love to know the fee.

400k-500k. For that price you aren't realistically getting a better profile.

As ever a bunch of contingency fees and add-ons, no doubt.

I'm the same

Our new signings could improve us massively and we still finish fourth bottom

You're a lot more confident than me!

Even after the new signings over the past couple of weeks, which are properly exciting - I'm still in the boat that anything around 16th would be a good season, there are a lot of horrible looking games this year.

Of course, I hope I am just too pessimistic and Ito is Nakata incarnate 🙂

21st is notional. The position that doesn't relegate us.

I'd love to teach solid mid-table. Not have intense pressure from Easter. At present being a solid Division 2 side for a while will do for me.

Good feeling about this Ito.

Worst case, he'll be hard-working, humble, and a team-player.

Pity he's 28, could have a cult hero on our hands.

[Never heard of him before this afternoon]

Just for reference, our full squad is now worth more than Lincoln, Cardiff, Pompey Charlton & Blackburn's.

Team has certainly taken shape and a big plus for me is this season barely any of them are loans.

I also find interesting that barring potentially Kenny, not a single one of the loans from last season we tried to get back (not counting ACD too)

We finished 5th in L1, miles and miles behind Cardiff and Lincoln.

Since then we've lost our best two players and have replaced them with a group of (hopefully calculated) punts on players at £1m and below. Lincoln and Cardiff have both spent more.

21st is a fantastic achievement and far above what the team we had in July could've achieved.

Theres a line of thought that says Cardiff wont be able to have as much possession in this league because other teams will do it better; and that Lincoln wont get away with having as little as they will get punished more ruthlessly by the superior quality in this league.

We are somewhere in the middle and look to have recruited to play on the break. We might just have the 'just right' bowl of porridge.

Has Evatt not taken his golden boy Randall off our hands yet?
