FFS. This isn't Behind The Stands. Most folk come on here to read bullshit rumours and conjecture, with the odd bit of accurate stuff thrown in. It's boring as fuck reading your personal squabbles.

  • Sure it's that Mandela effect in full flow here that we all seem to be OK with this. It's a fucking travesty and complete shitshow. He's our most prolific striker by a country mile, has been

We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

Whatever the figure is Im sure it will be offset against the cost of signing someone new and the amount it will cost if we dont get promoted on the back of it.

This lot aren't stupid and definitely not asset strippers.

If Evatt loses his main man who hes built a team around for the past 2 seasons is not replaced properly he will be on the phone to his agent before you can shout shit.

I agree. Think anyone thinking we are getting £5m for Charles is gonna be disappointed

He certainly wouldn't be happy.

Thats how it starts. Next minute his name is in the frame for other jobs.

Everyone has their price but it’s also about timing. This is the worst time to take the gamble on cashing Charles in. End of the season regardless of what league we’re in, likely. When he’s the main man to determine what league that will be in? Doubtful

I was reading earlier that Finn Azaiz (sp?) is leaving Plymouth where he was on loan, to go to Middlesbrough for £2.5m.

I love DC and hope he stays but if he does go, no way will we get owt like £5m

Not sure Aston Villa's 37th best player, even if better than our best player, offers a true comparison - the incentives for the selling clubs are very different.

Makes no sense that mate.

We accepted 1 million for GT beginning of the season. Reckon it would take more than double that now.

And for a top league one striker...

Would cost us more than that for a reasonable replacement.

Less than £1m from a club who just received £24m. Makes complete sense. Let’s hope he is here come feb but no one is bidding £5m. We can’t/won’t command those fees

No chance, to risk promotion by selling your best striker for anything like 750k would be utterly stupid.

Not to mention the complete loss of goodwill built over the whole season and beyond.

It's happened before.

It'd be suicidal selling our top scorer and best striker halfway through a promotion chasing season when we're 2nd in the league. Then you have to bear in mind the bedding in time his replacement needs to get used to the system🤷‍♂️

On Thomasson, i reckon he was on a baby contract and vulnerable to a speculative offer. Saying that, i dunno the terms but the headline million was a deal id have taken. What do I know

I think we are now in a much better place to hold out for more

Charles will be on a top level deal and we are not playing with a shit hand

It does however look like im in a minority in thinking we should, if offered, take 4 million, despite loving DC

Even thats guesswork as I dunno what we could get in

Most folks have a higher view of Thomason now than they did back in August. Most folk had a higher opinion of him then than they did 12 months before. He seems to have a good attitude and willingness to learn and it is paying dividends for him and us.

To make you feel worse, I agree 😁

Most on here would agree with you there, surely?

I could see us considering £1.5-£2M with add-ons

Makes no sense to take such a low offer and we won’t.

I’m just not in the same belief as you. Club wanted to sell. He didn’t want to go. Reckon contract had bollocks all to do with it.

I dunno

I think i felt folk saying its just too risky

While i would trust evatt to improve us with half of 4 million

Have I missed something.   Reading most of the above, it's like Charles is 100% on his way out from 750 grand to 5 mill.

Sure I haven't seen any bids whatsoever,  we should be pushing who are we signing to back him up in the starting xi

I don't think that on the money we (might) have we could get anyone to slot in seamlessly and get scoring right away. We know IE likes his team rotation so anyone coming in wouldn't even get 90 minutes to bond with the same striker.

So dont improve the contract

They accepted a bid? He wouldn’t go. Best tie an asset down. Not a master stroke for me.

I'm sorry, I've not a clue what you're referring to in your first sentence.

I don't expect to be offered 5m for Dion neither- never said I did, but no way would we accept such a small amount as you seem to think. That bit doesn't make sense.
