I think its semi official Carty is going to Doncaster on loan

which would mean him playing for grant mccann who i suspect knows abit about forwards and alongside ironiside who is surely better than bottom of div 4

That might be me tomski.

I live equidistant between Chester & Wrexham, just inside the Welsh border. I was born & dragged up in Horwich however and am very English & react badly to any of the Drakefordesque Cymraeg bullshit.

I will always have a quiet warm spot for Wrexham fc, just out of interest & many friends who are fans.

I do admire that 'Ryan Reynolds & the other guy' arrived out of the blue but have genuinely taken to the club & attend frequently. How long that continues we may have see. They're busy guys. They have, however, funded it way beyond any FFP rules and if they can't continue to forward progress they'll be in bother.

It's a town where ¾ of football fans support Stretford, Liverpool & Everton and have long talked of Wrexham as their 'second club'. ... a concept which bewilders me tbh.

There has, however, been a huge lift in interest albeit their ground current maxes at 10,000 with another 4,000 to add. So it's ability to grow & fund its football excesses is limited.

A bit like Wigan, there a huge increase in the football by blue rinse grandma's. They don't go, they know f'call, but they are loud about them.

The clubs highest ever league position is 15th in the (real) 2nd Division.

But right now there's a buzz.

There was  12,323 yesterday, but i do know what your saying. What is the situation with what used to be The Kop behind the goals? Is it still closed?

Tricky one this window,  am thinking we shouldn't stand still as will probably bite us in the arse by mid Feb but then where exactly do we look ?

Last couple of games we have made 3 or 4 changes to the starting xi and it wouldn't be noticed,  we couldn't do that 12 months ago,  everyone wants a goalscorer and we would be a bit stuck if dion got a lengthy injury so maybe we try for a decent loan with a view to a permanent - throwing in the promise of a championship place if we get there.

We shall see but whatever happens evatt and Co have trust in the bank.

Randy is supposed to be an RB I think. Also Jones into Matheson equation too. It’s a fair shout as he tried to sign 2 in the summer.

It was the period that Jones is away for that I’m worried about - although saying that, the window will be open for the majority of the time he’s away, so if something did happen to JDC then we should be able to pretty quickly get a replacement in.

Could be a rush job to do that, and would we be able to get a suitable player at that point?

Personally, I think we will stick with what we have- I'm sure Matheson can do a reasonable job there, at least for a while.

We'll have some weight to get rid of if we go up. Gambling on signing quality now to try to ensure it happens isn't likely to happen. Loans with an option to sign make more sense.

That's where the extra 2,500 came in.

There are some planning detail issues with the new Kop, so the club has built a temporary stand on the area it will eventually go.

That opened yesterday for the first time.

Has he not gone to that cup thing Jones has gone too

Different thingy. He's gone the the African thingy with Guinea-Bissau.

It's unlikely they'll go far but the whole thing ends on 11 February

I'd be confident (and I reckon Evatt would be) of Matheson filling in well enough in that scenario

A lot of confidence in a young lad who has only played in pizza cup so far - especially for arguably our most important position on the pitch and in a promotion race.

Anyway, all hypothetical and I hope we aren’t in a situation where we have to find out.

Personally, I think we’ll see a couple of loans in til the end of the season - wing back (of either variety) and a striker.

It's unusual for us to go in to a transfer window with so many saying they'd be happy with no activity.

I think a lot will be dictated by injuries and what state Gethin and CMG return in.

I'd personally be trying for loan central defender as a contingency. Having someone else in there would free up Jones and Iredale to act as more substantive wing back cover rather than covering for both there and CB at the same time. Just now I think we're a bit vulnerable to a crop of injuries of the kind we had when MJ ended up at CB last season. One more central defender would insure against that and shore things up that bit more.

Surely they're all important? With different qualities needed.

Even if we got cover in for wing backs, they would need a bit of time to acclimatise. Ones we currently have are fine and have shown their capabilities, at least as a temporary squad replacement.
