I think Jones will stay, so long as he's offered a contract obviously.

I like him, proper professional, and whilst he may not be the absolute best, he appears to be giving his all, and he's been respected and looked after by the board and club during his darkest days.

Reckon he is happy here.

Reckon Jones will fully transition in to an aussie at the end of the season

It’ll be the optimist and romantic in me, but I still think there’s another good BWFC story left for Santos yet.

There’s not a lot of logic attached to it, more a hope and wish.

For that to happen he’ll need to sort himself out and the backing of the fans, his team mates and manager.

It’s in everyone’s best interest, his included.

We’re not in April/May. If he sits on his arse for 4 months then that could be the end of any aspirations he has.

Get him fit and firing soon, then who knows…

So as far as you're concerned, sending abuse to someone's wife and kids should be considered part of their job, and have no effect on their morale as long as they're earning a decent wage?

I think you’ve made the kids thing up. The wife started it if iirc, doesn’t make it right. Could have been avoided? Yes. I don’t like it. I also don’t like players stealing a wage having an effect on mine and others morale when they turned out the shit they did v Oxford. But I forgive it and move on.

I haven't "made the kids thing up", but I may have misremembered the specifics. Maybe it was only Evatt's 12 year old kid who got abuse, but Santos' family were targetted by the same cunts.

Hardly 'stealing a wage' by any stretch of the imagination. He signed a contract, and has done a very good job for the last few seasons. Do the players who sap your morale send personal abuse to your wife and kids?

I think they’ve been trying to but they could only hit LLD on the search for glory  instead of www so we haven’t seen any yet.

Santos is going at the end of the season whether we want him to stay or not. And the grief he got post Oxford is a massive reason for it.

He was incredibly close to Evatt so any close chance there was of him staying effectively went when Evatt left.

He's been fantastic for us for 4.5 years. But he’s one of Evatt’s crew, and it’s time for a new regime.

Good luck to him. We need better too as well. Doesn’t have to be acrimonious.

Santos' head's gone. Lost confidence in the club & in the fans. Possibly in himself too. He certainly hasn't accepted losing the captaincy.

He (& Baxter) were the absolute crux of our pit-a-pat football ... Effectively Evatt of the field, and I suspect he feels he doesn't fit any more. Nor does he want to now his mentor has been sacked.

It's feasible SS can work some magic on him. If he can & he pulls things back, excellent but I doubt it.

I suspect he'll find it hard to come back up to speed, with us or anyone else.

He was at one point, in fact pretty much up until Rotherham, but I understand it didn’t end too well with Evatt.

There’s a chance to build a relationship with SS, a chance he’ll more than likely be given if his “health” and attitude are right

Don’t know anything about the ending with him and Evatt.

But in terms of him staying, my source is about as close to the horses mouth as you can get. He’s going I’m afraid.

Lots of people on here know a lot about what goes on at the club and what has happened on social media private messages and what state of mind players are in.

Not sure where the info comes from but good to know people have reliable sources.

There were a lot of loose lips in the last 6 months of Evatt. Frustrated people (and their wives) tend to let stuff slip.

I think things will be quieter now the new man is in. Until everyone gets fed up with him of course.

Got a feeling Santos has already switched off and is just running down his contract. The abuse he and his family got was absolutely pathetic. A minority of thickos can do a lot of damage. Quite amazed nobody came in for him in January. I'd love to see him return to the team and get back to his best, but can't see it.

Aye, that's the frustration

He'll still get paid and fill his fridge but he's just but really arsed anymore

It's not very professional but hey ho

We'll see. He'll be back in the team in the near future.

Suppose it depends he he's switched off or not

He might've switched off from BWFC, but I'm sure he'll want to put himself in the shop window for a deal in the summer.

He's probably already got a new club sorted so let him sulk in the stands (that's if he can be bothered to even turn up)

They have to turn up or they don't get paid.

as long as he's fit he should get sorted, he won't need game time for that, you don't need shop windows anymore, just a good agent

I trust SS to figure out where his head is at

won't be arsed if doesn't play again

would the 'best defender in league 1' need to put himself in the shop window

surely everyone knows about our rolls royce already?

Kris Jenner treated by paramedics after injured in Rolls ...

we played lincoln and he was good as anybody on the pitch

he left the pitch laughing and joking with evatt

definitely hadn't 'switched off' for that one

he followed that with a horror half v cambridge and wasn't seen for the second half

i think he probably is injured

i also think hes probably already sorted for next year, somewhere south of brum

Spot on. At his best, he's still one of the top League One defenders, albeit with youth no longer on his side.

And he's been outstanding at times this season. His form really has been reflective of the squad - up and down.

No idea on his current situation, but just after Xmas he was already looking at the logistics of a move back down south and, as you say, i'd be fairly sure he's pretty much fixed up already. Orient, Peterboro, QPR - plenty for him to go at and he'll get one more really decent deal.

I do hope he plays again. He deserves to leave on a high with the fans and, on his day, still the best centre half we have. Struggle to see him playing in a 2 though, so depends how SS wants to set up
